When I was in Iceland (March 31- April 08, 2023) for Spring Break, I got multiple chances to do some spotting (albeit unplanned) at both Reykjavik City Airport and Keflavik International Airport throughout the week.
Enjoy!
Epic Icelandair Q400 coming into Reykjavik/City from Hornafjörður (I’ll give you 100 cookies if you can pronounce this), a city in northeast Iceland.
Some type of little airplane, which, according to FlightRadar24, was landing after a quick hop from Keflavik Airport.
Another JetPhotos quality Dash 8 leaving Reykjavik for Egilsstaðir, some other Icelandic city, which, according to Adventures.com possesses “a rich collection of thick verdure, mountain hills, stunning waterfalls, and heritage sites, such as Fljótsdalshérað.” Sounds cool
Ahem… When we went to the Blue Lagoon (which, granted is near Keflavik) we got horribly lost because of a detour and ended up going down the road to BIKF. Well, I did grab this picture of the Generic 757, as well as an Icelandair 757.
From this point on, these pictures are from the trip back (before we got on the plane). This cool art installation is at Keflavik Airport, in the parking lot. It represents Icelandic Aviation History in some way or another, idk.
The way this rainbow hit the tail of this Icelandair B757 is just amazing. Fun fact: this exact plane is the aircraft modeled into Infinite Flight.
Some terminal spotting of this Edelweiss A320ceo, preparing for a flight down to Zurich. Just a day before, this plane had been in the sunny, warm Spanish island of Palma de Mallorca.
Most of the US flights board from this lower level (then walk up some stairs into the jet bridge), and each gate has a different color of glass. This plane was the one taking us down to Minneapolis today, after flying in from Berlin, Germany. We were slightly delayed, because of ongoing disruptions from high winds (60+ knots) at Keflavik Airport the day prior.
Bonus shot: as we were taxiing, we passed this epic special livery (my personal favorite is their Hekla Aurora 757). I wonder if they’ll repaint any of their 757 special liveries onto their upcoming A321LRs.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed! If you want more pictures from Iceland, feel free to PM me!
