Since the creation of the IFC link to the in-app VA/VO indicator next to callsigns, there’s been an ongoing presence of people adding groups that they are not officially a part of to their display name, leading to a misrepresentation of the quality of organisations such as IFATC and other virtual airlines.
This feature request seeks to have this countered by adding measures to only allow approved members of these organisations to add their tag to their IFC bio and hence, their display name. The solution proposed will work as detailed below:
Once added to an organisation, the “VA Manager” or equivalent VO staff member could add all eligible members to a list of users integrated into the forum which would grant permissions to the user on the IFC to add/change VOs that they wish to represent on a given flight.
Equivalently, official Infinite Flight organisations such as IFATC and IFAET could be given icons that users can add to their display names. Something similar to this:
This would allow for members of a body such as IFATC to represent both their positions as an official controller whilst also allowing them to display their chosen VA for the flight.
Didnt even need to read past the title. I know exactly what you mean and immediately put my vote in. Ive had someone impersonate my whole callsign down to the number
I fully support this! I’ve seen so many people flying around and I’ve gone into the VA/VO Discord to say hi to them and realized they aren’t actually a part of it. And on the deeper level it definitely sucks when great organizations get misrepresented, especially when pilots don’t fly to the standards the VA/VO would strive to uphold. Instantly has my vote, especially with the ability to have IFATC and your airline at the same time
This is a great idea! I’ve encountered a couple of situations where I’ve seen a pilot who’s supposedly in a VA causing issues - I’ve then notified the VA only to discover said pilot isn’t part of that VA.
Yeah… clicked on some profiles and there are plenty of so-called IFATCs. You can tell by some of the content they post so that’s probably an easy tell. And agree that the impersonating VA’s callsigns got to stop. Giving them a bad rap…
One dude even had a general aviation callsign of Italy-FATC (I-FATC)… clever 😉
