Ending July in the city of Eternal Springs (FLIGHT 1)

Hello and good morning everybody from Fort Lauderdale 🏝️🛥️ where we will find ourselves back on Spirit Airlines heading to Colombia 🇨🇴 but as the title says, we aren’t going to Cali this time (although I will be next month) I have already visited our destination in the IF world, it was last summer on my friends Bombardier Challenger 350 and if the IF version of me told me I would be going to Medellín soon I would probably say hopefully but unlikely since we barely travel to new places. New York City 🗽🍎 was the last place I have visited that was new for me at this point as this was before my Labor Day weekend Los Angeles 🌴📸 trip. But today we add Medellín to the list hopefully I get to visit more destinations I have been to in IF from Las Vegas 🎰⭐️ Honolulu, Hawaii 🏝️🐢🌺 Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 and eventually Dubai, UAE 🇦🇪 Male Maldives 🇲🇻🏝️ and Nadi, Fiji 🇫🇯 but we can always dream 😂 Spirit uses both terminals 4 and 3 at FLL but their check in counters are all in terminal 4 but the 2 terminals are connected airside so don’t worry about connecting from the E and F gates to the G gates without having to leave the secure area and going back through TSA and speaking of TSA, it took us 12 minutes to get through which was kinda surprising for FLL at peak hours and unlike the IF version of me, I do NOT have pre check. Now FLLs terminal 4 is arguably the best part of the airport in my opinion, its new and spacious and a decent amount of shops I even stopped by to take a picture of the El Al Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner who had come in the morning before from Tel Aviv, Israel 🇮🇱 I stopped by a small bakery for a light breakfast before making my way to the OTHER end of where I was with the LY B788 to gate G14 where our Banana neo was parked taking us to Medellin!

Airbus A320neo

Taking me over to Medellín this morning will be N921NK a 4 year old Airbus A320neo delivered new to Spirit Airlines in November 2019 and if you look closely, you can see the El Al B787-8 I mentioned I went to pay a visit earlier. This will be the best view of the aircraft unless I went across to terminal 3 concourse F but I didn’t feel like going over there but now that boarding has begun, let’s get on the legit airBUS.

Spirit Airlines crams a grand total of 182 seats on their A320neos, the first 2 rows consist of 8 big front seats in a 2-2 configuration and the remaining 174 benches in a 3-3-3 configuration . My seat will be 26L which I paid around $14 to reserve as seat selection isn’t included whatsoever. It’s pretty basic but it’s what you could expect from a low cost carrier but maybe power plugs would be nice? If seeing an EL AL B788 wasn’t enough Israel 🇮🇱 mentions today, outside you can see the Wing of Zion a modified Boeing 767-300ER home to the Israeli Air Force, pretty cool to see this! Unfortunately, the crying babies strike again like they did on my flight back from Cali and my Miami 🏝️😎 to New York JFK 🗽🍎 flight on American Airlines. Speaking of them, it was pretty hard to go from Boeing 777-300ER to an A320 but I dealt with it. It was a pretty humid day so the traditional A320 family “smoke” was in the cabin but other than that, I got nothing to say except we aren’t far from the active runways and BOTH 10L and R are in use so departure this morning will be MUCH smoother!

Just like I anticipated, we had no delay on our departure from FLLs RWY 10R and we were number 1 as well which just made things better!

We reached out cruising altitude of FL350 in almost no time and the crew began the buy on board service which I chose not to buy anything but it would just be basic snacks you’d find at a gas station or a duty free shop back at the airport so it really didn’t matter. The crew were great they seemed very energetic about this flight along with every other passenger and even got that baby i mentioned earlier to stop crying bravo 👏 take those 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spirit has Wi-Fi for purchase unlike the other ULCCs but I found it to be fairly pricey. You can access Spirit.com free of charge and the bets part is that it offered a FREE moving map, it wasn’t the most detailed but the fact it was there was really appreciated I don’t think even American has this. According to the map and the window, we are currently overflying Cuba! 🇨🇺

Montego Bay, Jamaica 🇯🇲 is in view now along with majority of the island

Señores y señoras, bienvenidos a Colombia! 🇨🇴 we will be beginning our descent soon.

Our approach into Medellín this afternoon took us to the right of the city on downwind before turning base and landing on RWY 01. We are currently on the downwind leg so enjoy this view of a pretty cloudy Medellín.

After an amazing view over the city, mountains and all the surrounding towns of the Medellín/Rionegro area. We arrived to Jose María Cordova International Airport around 20 minutes ahead of schedule and I had a great time with Spirit. Yeah it’s bare bones but it is exactly what they are supposed to be, the cheap way to fly between 2 points if you pack light, don’t care where you sit and don’t need much for a simple 2-3 hour flight, Spirit may be the airline for you but if it’s a longer flight, maybe consider another airline 😂

What? I couldn’t leave without a cockpit tour.

Now if I ever say anything about immigration in Cali, just remind me of my experience here. The line started as soon as we entered the passage way the line started and once in the actual passport control 🛂 hall the line WASN’T pretty. I went with my parents though the Colombian citizen passport area which just required a simple scan of a passport, your photo and you were in but I don’t have a Colombian passport so I couldn’t go through and my parents couldn’t go back to go through with me, luckily I was able to skip the long line and go to the front to clear myself into Colombia 🇨🇴 but I wish I just went through the line so it wouldn’t be as stressful. 😣 this bought time for our checked bag to come out so no need to wait for that and I was soon land side ready to go explore Medellín and the surrounding areas for the first time in real life that is! Thanks for joining me on this flight from Fort Lauderdale 🏝️🛥️ to Medellín, Colombia 🇨🇴 on Spirit Airlines with their Airbus A320neo stay tuned for the flight back to the US 🇺🇸 and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky! 😉👋

One time I flew on a ULCC Indian airline called Indigo (it’s a very big airline in India right now) for 5 HOURS. I don’t know how I didn’t go mad after it. It’s certainly an experience I wouldn’t want to experience ever again.
