Electronics barred from cabins on flights to U.S.

Hello Aviators & Aviatrixes,

I found this article very interesting as there is newly found information that has lead the authorities to make this decision.

The impact is not yet know but is sure to affect travelers. If you or someone you know are traveling to the U.S give them a heads up to contact their airline.

Apparently this will not affect U.S carriers.

Safe travels!

RJ posted a very cryptic release on their twitter this morning. Those electronic devices can be checked but not brought onboard. Lots of instability with regards to policies for travellers to the United States at the moment. I can’t imagine business travellers being too happy with this decision, this can lead to losing billable hours for consultants that work on the plane.

This is really odd 🤔

Not really sure what the brains are for this move.

im sorry to say this but america seems so scared of the outside world at times. Even though it is the biggest military power.

I would definitely agree with that

I’m afraid we might be going down an isolationist path…

So it’s safer to put laptops and other large electronics in checked bags where they can’t be accessed if there is a fire?

Yeah, makes total sense. Sigh.

Specially with some batteries exploding… This is definitely a move made to help the current administration’s ban on travel to people from certain countries.

By targeting Middle East and Africa. _(Sacarsm)_Oh great

Has anyone in charge of making this decision ever actually thought about this for more than 5 seconds? What’s the point of requiring something be checked if it’s illegal to check it? Ever heard of a battery fire before? It’s a whole lot easier to contain a fire in a carry-on than one in a cargo hold somewhere, hence why the Li-on batteries inside electronic devices are banned from checked luggage, and you can’t just pry open your computer/iPad/etc. to take out the battery.

Before you know it the 5 freedoms of aviation will start being denied…:(

I think the title should be changed to certain overseas flights to the US instead. It only affects the Middle East.

I can get so much done while 38,000ft in the air - looks like that won’t be happening anymore. At least those rules haven’t come to Australia yet 😌

Have you seen what’s been going on in the Middle East? Terrorism is spreading like a wild fire. Better safe than sorry…

The U.S and all these rules are getting stranger by the second…

A laptop bomb in the cargo hold won’t be less effective than in the cabin.

It is necessary because of the attacks.

I’m sure it would be easier to maintain if one were to explode. Less casualties from the explosion itself. Also, as far as I’m concerned, there is more security checks in a checked bag than there is in a carry-on bag.

Smart people will get it past them somehow. The plane still falls into the ocean
