hey folks!! just departed from EKCH on the ES and the winds favour 22L/R. just as i was taxiing out, another pilot grade 4 no less, decided to go to 04R which has a tailwind. This is becoming a major issue on the ES and something needs to be done in the near future. We can’t be calling it the ES when we have members doing this, it just takes away from those who follow the rules. Sometimes I just have to scratch my head in frustration. This behaviour can’t be happening on the ES under any circumstances. I know these posts have been done to death, but this is an ongoing thing. People come to the ES to avoid these things, The ES meant for those who’re meant to know the ins and outs of IF, it just seems the ES quality has really declined. Make the entry to the ES much tougher folks. cheers
Hey, do you happen to remember how strong the tailwind component was? Planes can still takeoff with a tailwind, but it’s generally avoided if it exceeds 10 knots.
22B are the calm wind runways for EKCH, there should be no tailwind landing on 40B unless they are used before due to strong winds and a runway change haven’t been done.
Preferring 04R sounds a bit strange for takeoff because it means a longer taxi route, but if it was for landing it might be laziness.
Hard to tell without having a look at the wind direction and strength as well as the fpl of the aircraft in question.
If the pilot has his name displayed it. Ight help contacting him here in the IFC to get clarification.
8 or 9 knots from what I remember
