EIDW 28R hold-short point

SERVICE BULLETIN

Re: EIDW 28R hold-short point.

Everyone please note if you are departing EIDW on RWY 28R - the hold short line for the end of the runway is not in the “usual” place - see the attached image - the hold short line is circled in red.

I had to report a couple of pilots during my session this evening due to crossing this hold short line without permission when there was aircraft still on the runway/on final.

This might be a dumb question but is there any specific reason you know of that causes it to be pushed back like that

That ain’t a stupid question I was wondering the same thing.

This is due to the displaced threshold and the related Glideslope antenna position.
With the beam of the Glideslope getting wider by distance it requires a wider disturbance free area. The regular hold is placed to cover CAT I operations.

The same could be seen on the other runway end where the displaced threshold is not that large.

I had a feeling it was something to do with the glideslope antennas. Thanks for linking that - very useful!

Also the SIDs and STARs for the 28R/10L are still missing

Thanks! that makes sense

Honestly I thank you for making this since my last control in this airport the amount of pilots that crossed that line was insane I was very annoyed by this too.

For me the final wasn’t a problem since I use the real world operations in the airport which they use 28R for departures only and 28L for landings only

But thank you for making this as for me this annoys me alot

This is to do with the fact the AIRAC nav data is rather out of date outside of the US (I believe it uses nav cycle 2103 (from ~March 2021).)

Fingers crossed it gets updated in the near future.
