I made it through security at Gatwick’s Terminal Terminal S just in time to see our aircraft getting parked at the gate after a flight inbound from Porto.
Boarding was efficient and on time, and we were able to push back for Lisbon 6 minutes ahead of schedule.
After holding short of the runway while an airBaltic flight landed in from Tallin, we rocketed off, turning southwest shortly after getting airborne
Making our way through the choppy skies above the English Channel, just east of the West Sussex town of Worthing
Now on the French side of the Channel and comfortably cruising at FL320, the seatbelt sign was flipped off and the snack service began. I opted for a Iberian Tapas Box, which was pretty good, but maybe not quite worth the €10 I spent on it
The seatbelt sign came back on as we banked over central Spain. The captain informed us that we were expecting some bumps on our way into the Lisbon area
As predicted, it was indeed a turbulent ride. We were fighting the wild crosswinds on our final approach for Runway 20
On short final, crossing over the runway threshold while company traffic heading to Recife held just shy of the airstrip
It was a very firm touchdown with heavy braking, which enabled us to make the taxiway closest to our stand
I caught one last view of our jet as we were bussed off to the terminal for customs. Crews were already working to prepare the aircraft for a flight out to Luxembourg
This was a very fun flight to do for @TAPVirtual, with varied scenery and a lovely approach into Lisbon.
