You did great. The only thing is when you said cleared for the option, then I requested landing. I’m pretty sure cleared for the option only means touch and goes. Correct me if I’m wrong :)

I had to go somewhere so I did rly bad patterns. Sorry about that

Cleared for the option means you can choose what you want to do (Touch and go, full stop, landing, low pass, etc) hence the word “option.” Landing means you are cleared to land, and that is all you can do. Thanks for stopping by!

Ok thanks.

Here’s my feedback.

  1. You needed to issue a pattern entry and clearance for N2316JF, just a clearance does not suffice. If you are issuing an aircraft a new pattern entry or new runway, you need to issue a pattern entry, sequence (if necessary) and clearance.
  2. I also needed a pattern entry after I asked for a change to 30R.
  3. The “maintain slowest practical” and “I’ll call your base” instructions were unnecessary, over controlling. When aircraft in the pattern are VFR, therefore they are responsible for separation, not Tower.
  4. The exit command with the instruction to expedite for N2316JF was also unnecessary, I was 4nm on base at 70knts indicated, so there’s no need for him to rush off the runway.
  5. You can only issue exit commands once aircraft are at a safe speed, I was still airborne 100ft off the ground. See 6.4.3 of the ATC Manual.

Overall it was pretty good, nice sequencing and clearances. Just need to work on those things I mentioned. :)

Hey, thanks for stopping by!

For the third point you mentioned, I totally see it and honestly forgot you were VFR haha. When I issued the exit command, I again had forgotten you were VFR and that you would have spaced yourself accordingly. For your exit command, it showed you were on the ground and slowing down. My device is known for lagging occasionally (I am working on getting a new one), but had I known you were still airborne I definitely would not have told you to exit. Im glad I got the sequencing down and will work on pattern entry next time. Thanks again for the very helpful feedback!

No problem, generally it’s a good idea to give the GA aircraft a few seconds to get themselves together anyway. Don’t go by the change of the color on the flight strips, use the altitude or the ATC camera and just wait a few seconds to make sure they are at a safe speed.
