Late next week we will be in DC, and I was hoping to go to Dulles to spot, and was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to spot from…
Google is your best friend here if you want quick answers. I suggest this link as a DC spotter:
I’ll be in DCA on Tuesday next week. Sad I’ll miss ya
Google?
Try and go to the Udvar-Hazy Center…amazing Smithsonian aviation museum…you can also see planes land there from the observation tower.
Also Dulles is a bit of a drive from downtown DC…better off going to DCA if you are going to be downtown.
Well we will be downtown for the STEM conference, but we are staying with friends that are closer to Dulles…
But will definitely be hitting gravely point…
@anon36571935 @athitayan - you guys know a lot about IAD.
Uh
I don’t know anything about spotting at IAD. It’s just my home airport and I’ve flown out of it a couple times.
However, there’s a runway (not sure which one) which is very open, and should be able to easily see planes landing and taking off from the right viewpoint, and I’m pretty sure that there’s a terminal on only one side of the runway.
The access road to the Udvar Hasy Air & Space Museum has a great view of aircraft landing on 1R and 1C.
