Drop speed a330

Hello everyone has anyone else noticed that when u go to a cruising ALT that ur speed drops?
I was at FL370 then suddenly my airspeed drops

We need more details about your observation

You mean your indicated airspeed? That’s not an A330 specific thing.

You should look at your Mach number. That’s a better indication of your speed.

My Mach was .81
Then it went to Mach 0.74

What altitude were you cruising at?

Also was your autopilot’s speed function on or off?

That’s strange. Could you upload a replay of your flight and share it with us on www.sharemyinfiniteflight.com

Generally, the A330 is very sluggish the higher you go. Make sure your load was light enough to be that high and that you were climbing no faster than 500 ft/min

Can I finish my flight
I am going from KSAN-KATL

I’ve only flown tests but the A330 seems a bit underpowered compared to the 777 and A350. Likely nothing is wrong with it, P2W is just lower.

Thanks u all for ur help

Couldn’t a sudden change in wind direction cause your airspeed to fluctuate dramatically(sometimes)?

If it can, wind direction changes is a possibility to your airspeed change

Could be an issue with you being too high for your aircraft’s weight. If you were heavy, FL370 may certainly be too high.

This is an issue that was there even before the 21.4 update, I don’t know what phase of flight you were, but if your aircraft is heavy, and you had a high climb rate, the aircraft will definetely struggle to keep up with its speed and altitude. You could use a very useful technique which is step climbing, for example, try climbing to FL320 first, wait an hour to two hours before climbing higher. I hope that I helped you enough to enjoy the update!

Have a great flight then, make sure to use step climbing when heavy, its a useful and realistic tip
