Doha to Melbourne but…

Qatar operates two flights to Melbourne. But, one of them has a twist that you might not expect!

Blasting out of a dusky Doha

Above the beautiful Western Australian coast

Touch down onto @Cwaker land

Turning into the gate… This is the end of the flight right? Right?

Nope, we still got 1 more hour! Guess the actual destination?

Cruising at 38,000ft above Grampians National Park

Banking onto approach

If you guessed Adelaide, you are right!

Parked at the gate.

Yes, Qatar operates a near empty flight between Adelaide and Melbourne! Read more: Why Does Qatar Airways Operate Near-Empty Flights Between Adelaide & Melbourne?

Lol, the 77Ws are the biggest that aircraft in ADL, I knew what was going to happen the second you said that there was a second destination…

Yep. The 777s are the biggest things here followed by the 787-10 and A330s. We do get the occasional A380 diversion as well as 747 charters. We do get the An-124, but very rarely.

Definitely a very unique route given Qatar operates the route direct to Adelaide on the B77L thanks to the loophole in the air service agreement between Qatar and Australia!

Qatar will also operating a 3rd route to Melbourne resuming service to Canberra between Dec-Apr on the B77W!

Oh nice! Will definitely try that out when the route officially inaugurates!

QR988 DOH-MEL
QR988 MEL-ADL Am I Correct?
B77W operates weekly or Daily from DOH and MEL

Yeah. Qatar does QR988 through Doha → Melbourne → Adelaide. Both QR904 and QR988 are daily.

QR988 DOH-MEL-ADL
QR904 DOH-MEL just to clarify
