Does anyone else do "Run-ups" and "Flight Control Checks"?

Just wondering? I’ve been doing this for a while and it makes it feel more realistic.

Busy airports, no. If it’s just me then possibly, yes.

Every “Blue Moon” I notice someone else doing it. Seems like most people just File their FPL and Go.

I do most of the time. Funny story… I used to not do it at all, then one day I decided to try a flight control check. I moved my device around and viewed the controls from the external view. They didn’t move. I decided to just go ahead and do the flight thinking it was just a bug. Well low and behold I couldn’t lift up during my takeoff roll and I had to quit the flight before I crashed. Literally, I had never had a flight control issue before, and the one time I did a flight controls check I bypass the obvious failure and nearly crash. Now if that isn’t an ironic coincidence then I don’t know what is.

I can’t remember the last time I simply jumped into my plane and either requested a pushback or taxi without sitting for a brief amount of time to gain my bearings/view traffic, decide on a flight plan, and configure my aircraft. I however have never performed a run up check, but if I were to how would I know where the designated run up areas are located?

Without fail. Doesn’t matter if I may be blocking traffic for 30 seconds in a smaller airport. I’m on Expert for the realism so I’m going to be realistic.

The “Run-up” areas are usually located at the end of each taxiway leading to your designated runway. Some airports don’t have it, but what pilots do, particularly Prop Planes, they turn their planes away from other traffic so that the prop wash doesn’t send rocks and debris into the other planes.

I know it might be useless but again I just do it for the realism. It gets boring when you just spawn and fly.

I always do.

same, this is me :)

Yes, but only when I am waiting in line to takeoff. If there’s no line and I’m next up I just go. If I have nothing to do while I wait, you’ll see everything being tested and the engine revving up.

Every single flight I do it’s makes it more realistic and fun

Yes I always do a “walk around” before filing the FPL, also check flight controls after push back as well.

Sometimes I do, most of the time I don’t.

I do. :)

And ground control hates me for that ;)

Did you slip autopilot on by accident? Holding heading and elevation?
