Dodgers 2025 Charter Flights!

Let’s Go Dodgers! MLB Teams require a lot of flights for a full 162-Game Season from March to October!

Rules

  • I will fly the exact routes that were flown by the dodgers (same time of day, aircraft, livery, parking, flight plans, cruising altitude)
  • I will post all flight logs followed by what games were played as a result of this flight and the final score of the games
  • If the Dodgers took a bus or train ride instead of a plane ride I will make a note in the thread prior to posting those game results
  • I will also post 20-30 minutes prior to each flight in case anyone wanna does ATC
  • All Flights will happen in the Expert Server
  • I will make a special note if I attend the game in person and post a pic from my seat

Let’s Go Dodgers

Also here’s a picture of beautiful Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, CA because this challenge is focusing on flying to go see other stadiums but you can’t forget about where you’re playing 81 of your 162 games

Dodgers Schedule
Pre-Season: February/March

What is Spring Training?
Spring training is the preseason of Major League Baseball (MLB), a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. Spring training allows new players to try out for roster and position spots, and gives established players practice time prior to competitive play. Spring training has always attracted fan attention, drawing crowds who travel to the warm climates. In MLB half of the teams go to Arizona (Cactus League) and the other half to Florida (Grapefruit League).

Where do the Dodgers play Spring Training?
The Dodgers play Spring Training at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona. They share the facilities with the Chicago White Sox. Often when one team is playing there, the other team has an away game somewhere else. All of the Arizona Spring Training Ballparks are located in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area (Surprise, Peoria, Glendale, Goodyear, Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, and Mesa). They are all within a one hour drive of each other.

MLB World Tour?

What is the MLB World Tour?
A core focus for Major League Baseball is creating opportunities for fans to experience baseball outside of the US. Whether through regular season games in the form of international series or other events that draw upon elements of baseball that make the experience so unique, the overall goal is to connect fans with the sport. Over the last 30 years, Major League Baseball has played over 200 international games in 11 different countries and territories. From London and Japan, to Cuba, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, MLB strives to bring live baseball to fans all around the world.

Dodgers Aircraft

United Boeing 757-200/300/737-MAX8: In Previous Years the 757-200/300 was the primary plane chartered by the Dodgers for the majority of the flights throughout the regular season. However it is looking like beginning this year they are switching to the 737-MAX8. This is not to say they won’t be using the 757-200/300 ever again, but it looks like for now the 737-MAX8 will be the new primary aircraft.

United Boeing 737-800/900: This plane is used on occasions where there are less players needed (for example: flying home from the all star game) or maybe if less family is traveling with the players (for example maybe a quick couple of games in San Francisco)

United Boeing 777-200ER: This plane is used for the playoffs when there are a lot of extra people flying with the players to go cheer them on (Family, Extra Staff, etc…), this plane has also been used for regular season games but it is rare.

Private Challenger 350: This plane is only used once a year and it is to take players selected to the all star game, to the all star game.

Atlas Air Boeing 747-400: This plane is used exclusively for long international flights whenever the Dodgers play outside of the US or Canada. (For Example: Seoul, South Korea in 2024 or Tokyo, Japan in 2025)

Almost every flight will use the callsign United 3782 with the exception of the Tokyo Series flights and the private jet to the all-star game

Dodgers Home Airports

The Dodgers use a mix of both Hollywood Burbank Airport (KBUR) and Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX). There is no consistent reasoning I could find behind why they use which airport on which day for which route. So you will see probably an equal amount of both airports being used. So consider these both the Home Airports.

Fun Facts about Dodger Stadium
  • Oldest West Coast Ballpark: Opened in 1962, Dodger Stadium is the oldest MLB stadium west of the Mississippi.

  • Third-Oldest in MLB: Only Fenway Park and Wrigley Field are older among active MLB stadiums.

  • Unique Location: Built in Chavez Ravine, it’s carved into a hillside, offering stunning views of downtown LA and the San Gabriel Mountains.

  • Hand-Dug Construction: Over 8 million cubic yards of earth were moved by hand to create the stadium’s bowl shape.

  • Record Attendance: Hosted 57,099 fans for a 2008 exhibition game, one of the largest crowds ever for a baseball game.

  • Neutral Hitting Park: Its dimensions favor neither hitters nor pitchers, making it a balanced venue for games.

  • Iconic Look: Known for its pastel-colored seats and mid-century modern design, it’s a cultural landmark.

  • Hosted Olympics: Served as a baseball venue for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

  • No Corporate Name: One of the few MLB stadiums never renamed for a corporate sponsor, keeping its classic “Dodger Stadium” title.

  • Celebrity Hotspot: Regularly attracts stars like Will Ferrell and Chris Pratt, especially during playoff games.

Yup, including the NBA & NHL charters.

You should post them. Also, let’s be so real, you’re likely not making the playoffs this year. Yankees are cool though, my grandpa has watched every game since 1945 or sumn, he’s a diehard.

My LA Kings & Lakers use Delta for charters
My Dodgers use United for charters
My Rams use American for charters

Yeah, I have an app that shows charter schedules, though I think it was for nfl only, but I don’t remember. It’s called jet tip.

Fun Facts about the Tokyo Dome

Here are some cool facts about the Tokyo Dome:

  • Known as “The Big Egg” due to its distinctive egg-shaped roof, Tokyo Dome is one of Japan’s most iconic stadiums.

  • It can hold up to 55,000 people, though its official baseball capacity is around 46,000. For concerts and events, it’s often packed to the brim!

  • The dome’s roof is made of a flexible, Teflon-coated fiberglass membrane and is kept inflated by air pressure—about 0.3% higher inside than outside. No heavy structural beams needed!

  • It opened on March 17, 1988, making it Japan’s first major domed stadium, and it’s been a hub for sports and entertainment ever since.

  • It’s the home stadium of the Yomiuri Giants, one of Japan’s most popular and successful baseball teams.

  • Beyond baseball, it’s hosted everything from NFL games and pro wrestling to massive concerts by acts like Taylor Swift, BTS, and The Rolling Stones.

  • Built to withstand earthquakes (a big deal in Japan), its lightweight roof design helps it stay stable during tremors.

  • It’s one of the few indoor venues in the world to host monster truck rallies—pretty wild for a city stadium!

  • It’s part of a larger entertainment complex with an amusement park, shopping, a hotel, and even a roller coaster that weaves around the area.

  • Thanks to its roof, baseball games never get rained out—a huge plus in Tokyo’s unpredictable weather.

Our first flight is from Phoenix to Tokyo-Haneda Airport. We are flying out of Phoenix instead of Los Angeles because this is immediately following the end of Spring Training which takes place in Arizona. The return flight will go to Los Angeles though. Instead of our usual Chartered United Boeing 757-200, the Dodgers opted for a Chartered Atlas Air Boeing 747-400 for the Tokyo Series for two reasons. The first reason is due to the distance they needed a widebody aircraft. The second reason is a lot more family members of players and executives wanted to take advantage of this chance to see Japan so they needed more seats.

Fun Facts about the 2 Games @ Chicago Cubs in Tokyo, Japan

The Los Angeles Dodgers faced off against the Chicago Cubs in the MLB Tokyo Series to kick off the 2025 season on March 18 and 19 at the Tokyo Dome. Here are some cool facts about those two games:

  • Historic Japanese Pitching Matchup: Game 1 on March 18 featured the first-ever all-Japanese starting pitching matchup on MLB Opening Day, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers facing Shota Imanaga of the Cubs. Both pitchers delivered strong performances in front of their home country, with Yamamoto allowing just one run over five innings and Imanaga tossing four scoreless, hitless innings despite four walks.

  • Shohei Ohtani’s Homecoming: The series marked Shohei Ohtani’s first professional games in Japan since leaving the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in 2017. Ohtani, now a Dodger, shone brightly, going 2-for-5 with two runs scored in Game 1, including a double and a single. In Game 2, he hit a home run, electrifying the Tokyo crowd and adding to his legend as a three-time MVP.

  • Roki Sasaki’s MLB Debut: Game 2 on March 19 saw 23-year-old Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki make his highly anticipated MLB debut for the Dodgers. Pitching three innings, he struck out three Cubs batters, showcasing his devastating splitter and high-90s fastball. It was a special moment as he debuted in his home country after starring with the Chiba Lotte Marines in NPB.

  • Dodgers’ Sweep Without Key Stars: The Dodgers won both games—4-1 in Game 1 and 6-3 in Game 2—despite missing superstars Mookie Betts (illness) and Freddie Freeman (rib discomfort in Game 1, with a 75% chance he played in Game 2). This showcased their depth, with players like Tommy Edman and Kiké Hernández stepping up, both hitting home runs in Game 2.

  • Record-Breaking Viewership: The Tokyo Series opener drew over 25 million viewers across all platforms, making it the most-watched MLB game ever in Japan. This shattered the previous record of 18.7 million set during the 2024 Seoul Series, highlighting the massive appeal of seeing Japanese stars like Ohtani, Yamamoto, Sasaki, Imanaga, and Seiya Suzuki on the global stage.

  • Japanese Star Power: The series featured five Japanese-born players, a rare concentration of talent. In addition to Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Sasaki for the Dodgers, the Cubs boasted pitcher Shota Imanaga and outfielder Seiya Suzuki, who played as the designated hitter. This made the games a celebration of Japan’s baseball legacy.

  • Tokyo Dome Atmosphere: The games drew capacity crowds of around 42,000 fans each night, creating a playoff-like environment. The Tokyo Skytree was lit up in patterns representing the series, the Dodgers, and the Cubs, staying in the winning team’s colors after each game, adding a festive touch to the event.

  • Dodgers’ Bullpen Dominance: In Game 1, the Dodgers’ bullpen—featuring Anthony Banda, Ben Casparius, Blake Treinen, and Tanner Scott—retired 16 straight Cubs batters from the third to eighth innings. Scott secured his first save as a Dodger in the ninth, underlining the team’s revamped relief corps as a strength in their title defense.

Our next flight is from Tokyo-Haneda Airport to Los Angeles to begin the regular season.
