Do you use brakes for landing?

Hi, everyone i wonder if people use a break button for landing or not cause personally i don’t use them at all because i feel like using it make a aircraft come to a stop so fast that it unrealistic i only use spoliers armed and reverse trust.

Vote here:

  • I use break
  • I don’t use
  • Sometimes

I usually use the break after My reverse thrusters are off, but sometimes I’ll turn it on earlier if there’s traffic on short final behind me so I can get off quicker.

Brakes under 90kt with reverse for me, only brakes under 60 (idle thrust)

I only use break when an aircraft come to safe speed after landed

The brake button is actually for parking.
So I don’t use it at all.

The only time I use my brake is when I am flying a fighter jet as there isn’t anything to stop it, or I am landing on a very short runway (Lukla, for example.)

Of course, I do use it when I am at 60 knots and turn off my reverse thrust.

If it’s a REALLY short runway I’ll use it.

What @Infinite_flight_HD said, yes, it’s only really used for parking. You usually use the rudder break

I agree on that

The only time i will use break is when im exiting the runway but my speed is around 35 KTS so i will slow down a bit and parking

If you use a joystick you can set it up so you have a brake button and a separate button for parking brake.
It’s another great bonus of having a stick.

I only brake after the reversers turn off or if I have a late landing on a short runway

Usually, I use all breaks available but in specific order : Spoilers which automatically deployed at touch, then I use reversers until to be below 60 knots, and I release them and use speed brakes.

I only use them if I’ve messed up the landing and can’t takeoff or when I’m turning of the runway

If i messed up a landings 98% i will go around but very rare that times i messed up landings cause i already pro at it

Only after the reverse thrust turns off, or it’s a short runway. Seems to be the general opinion on here.

I’ll land with brakes if the runway is that short (when I say short, I mean VNLK short). But during normal operations, I’ll only break once I stow the reversers.

I use reverse thust till 70knts then at 60 I use the rudder (pull down) to brake slowly until I can exit

Yep I also pull down on the rudder when I land. I tend to do it at around 70-90 kts.

I use breaks under 45 knots.

(Spoilers the whole way) I use reverse thrusters until 50knts, before gently slowing down using brakes (via rudder) to the next realistically accessible turn off, at about 30-20 knts depending on traffic on final.
