I found out few weeks ago how the Approach mode works, but do you guys ever use it on your expert server flights? Because i have done ALL my flights without it.

I always use it to align with the ILS - then I disengage it at around 1000ft or when I see the runway (whichever is later).

In my case, I usually do it for straight-in approaches, engaging at 3000ft AGL and disengaging at 1000ft AGL to hand-fly it down.
But it’s usually assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Don’t doubt yourself, you’ve just gotta work at uncontrolled or unpopular airports (<5 aircraft or lesser-known/ranked ATC).
Builds your confidence when nobody is watching and you don’t have the pressure of having other people in the airspace to watch for.

I never use it, I like to land the plane myself without any help, I just don’t have skill issues :)

I use NAV1 ILS to align at like 5000FT, but I never use APPR

If the plane has APPR, I’m using it all the way until Ground Service icon lights up. Don’t have butter hands for accurate tilting, and cant be bothered either 😬

I use it all the time so i will have a more precise approach when coming into land. It is very important to use when there is low visibility and you need to do a CAT III ILS Approach.

In my opinion, if you use auto landing all the time, how will you ever learn how to land a real plane, pilots don’t always use APPR unless it’s bad weather.

ya I use appr mode for aligning with runway by intercepting localizer this help to be in runway lane and in final i usually turn the approach mode off from there is land plane hand free …
I have only used APPR until recently, I tried landing at LGW disconnecting APPR at 1000AGL, I made the hardest landing I think I’ve ever done

Tilting a phone / tablet screen to land a plane in a mobile simulator is not going help you land a plane in real life

It kinda does, you have to tilt the yoke, so I think of my iPad and my phone as the yoke
