Do we need to know approach for IFATC?

I am thinking about trying to become an IFATC, and my approach control skills are ok, but not amazing, so do we have to be good at that for IFATC, or just ground/tower?

You start off as just Ground/Tower. An approach test is available once you become an IFATC. It is not mandatory

Thank you. I’m only 13, but when I turn 14 I will certainly start the testing process.

Your name rings a bell… Weren’t you doing patterns at Palmdale and trailing me while I’m controlling? ;)

In all seriousness, we’re glad you’re taking the right steps and asking questions to get started. Feel free to contact a scouter if you want to get a head start on training! Seems like Tom’s taken care of that already, though. Just don’t let him have beer on any account, despite what he says. :)

Tom is a beer addict

What I did was I got training while I was 13 from trainers then when I turned 14 I was already ready for the test.

That’s smart. What things did you find most helpful to train for?

Well @dush19 got a lot of IFATC controllers to come and do patterns. So I had a full pattern while training. I didn’t pass my test though I only got 68%

That’s a shame. I’m sure you’ll get there.

Of course there must be… If not we will be having IFATC members control like nimrods in PG 😂

I couldn’t imagine not having a server where I could go to be controlled well!

Yeah but done worry, we enjoy controlling too so it’s not like its forced or anything. Just don’t mess with us or it’s a 👻 ;)
