So I was taking off at KMSO and ended up having to abort the takeoff. So I was wondering if after I get off the runway and I plan to try and taking off again should I request taxi clearance or is it still valid from the first time?
I believe you are still required to request to taxi to the runway. That way ATC will be able to help you get there safely, just as if you had left the gate or ramp like you normally would.

Yup! After you’re told to exit the runway after aborting the takeoff, you can request taxi back to the runway, or to parking if you so wish to go back to a gate.
I’ve been thinking about this, too. But why would there be a reason to abort a landing. Winds? It’s not like we have failures in IF.
When I was IFATC, even I gave out cancel takeoff clearances on takeoff roll if I knew they can stop in time if the aircraft landing had to go around. Sometimes it’s controller induced too.
Well one time I was departing Munich in a Lufthansa a320 and I forgot to start my #2 engine and I aborted takeoff so that’s one reason. 😂

However I have had instances where controls do not work. Once I set VS autopilot when taxiing and forgot to turn it off and rejected at 160 kts lol. Never did that again

Remember to exercise caution when aborting takeoffs. Sometimes the controller will have people on final, so try to taxi somewhat quickly off of the runway so that you don’t force a go-around. Obviously, not all are preventable, but if you taxi quick enough, you can save the controller a bit of work.
Is there a way to tell the controller you are aborting? Also can you get ghosted for aborting (other than for trolling and aborting like 3 times in a row)?

There isn’t a way to tell the controller that you’re aborting, although you can vote for that here.
It will depend on the controller’s situational awareness in order to draw attention to your aborted takeoff. I can’t think of any reasons off the top of my head where you’d get ghosted for aborting, but there may well be a reason, so my advice is to use it only when you really need to. Please don’t abort takeoff 3 times in a row, that will not end well.
@Nicholas_Henry When you contact ground, you still need to request clearance to taxi to a gate/runway. Is this what you were asking?

I’ve had it happen where I forget to disengage brakes on takeoff roll (since some planes have bad brakes) and had to abort the takeoff. I was in an E190
Can you say unable when tower tells you to abort if you’re past v1
Also conflicting traffic (Not so much with IFATC but generally speaking).
Or in LSZH if there’s a go-around on RWY14 and RWY 10 is in use for departures you have to abort your takeoff.
