Do all aircraft taking off from runway 08R make a right turn to avoid Downtown Honolulu?

I’m curious, do aircraft departing from PHNL ever takeoff from runway 08L and just fly straight out (across the city and over the mountains) (because that’s what I do in IF)? Because from these few videos it seems there’s a similar pattern: Takeoff from 08R, make sharp right turn once airborne to avoid the city.

Have you checked departure plates? Google is your friend.

I feel that it’s easier for you to explain since you already know why rather than me googling it…thanks now I sort of know what departure plates are but do they ever fly straight out?

@Andre_S has clearly showed for PHNL. as a suggestion before every IF Flight it is worth checking out the airport charts, particularly Departire plates (called SID) and Arrvivals (called STAR). Just google the Airport Code and “Charts” and you will get lots of options

Happy landing.

In addition to the good info from Andre, you can check this:

You’ll see there that apart from 08L, also runways 4 are used for departure.
