I filed a flightplan between Boston (KBOS) and Hamilton (TXKF) with Simbrief. Total distance given by the planner was 707nm with the BRUWN7 STAR (Boston) and the MOMOM1 SID (Hamilton, Bermuda), but the distance given by IF is of 979nm, a 272nm extra, all following the same waypoints.
Is this a bug in IF? I checked on Google Maps the distance between Boston and Hamilton (Bermuda) is almost the same as the Simbrief one, 775nm.
I’m adding below screenshots of the distance difference between airports.
Edit: It’s a bug in the app. I checked an older video I did for the same route, and the distance given between airports was of 698nm, here’s the screen shot:
When you mentioned it’s following the same waypoints, did you check by verifying the waypoint names in your flight plan or checking visually the routing displayed on your map page?
It’s possible that the waypoints used in IF refers to the same name, but is actually another waypoint using different lat/long coordinates. Did you check along the route via the map page to see any major deviations from the flight plan?
I did that just now, but it gave 887nm. I found the solution though, I deleted the intermediate waypoints and the distance was reduced from 900 to the more normal 687nm. I’m posting the solution in a separate post.
Hi guys! I just found the solution to my problem. I deleted the intermediate waypoints between BRUWN7 and MOMOM1, and the total distance was reduced from 900nm to the original 698nm. The waypoints that I took from Simbrief lengthened the trip for some reason, maybe they aren’t correctly positioned in the app. These waypoints are BORQE, JENYY, OVAPI, ANVER and TEDYY. I guess I did the same for my previous flight and had forgotten about it.
