Dinner with a Regional Airline Captain

Hello Community, this evening I will be having dinner with a regional captain that’s flying into my local commercial airport! He flies the CRJ-200/700/900 series aircraft and flies for contract under delta and united. Fill free to ask questions below so I can ask him! Keep them aviation related as much as possibly!

What’s the hardest thing about flying regionally? Is it the hours? Payment?

What’s the scariest thing you’ve encountered while flying, wether it be an engine failure, weather, or a sick passenger?

Thanks!

Would you ever like to fly long haul or do you like regional flying?
Thanks!

What steps did he take to become a Commercial Airline Pilot?

Which aircraft/airline is he hoping to move forward with? (After Regional)

What is the greatest thing about being a Regional Pilot?

Might be interesting to bring your phone and have him try out the CRJ on Infinite Flight, just for a minute of course. Could be cool to see how he thinks it compares.

Flies for a regional airline based in Utah. Does United Express as well as delta connection

How did you choose piloting?

What path or steps did you take to get the job of piloting?

Do you plan on moving up the scale from regional to fly larger commercial aircraft?

Also @rileymoyer I like the idea too!

May you please ask him the following question as I really need an answer for it. The question is “let’s say an airline gives you two options which are the ERJ145 or the CRJ-200, do you need to get type ratings for them and then ask he airline for permission to pilot the aircraft, or does the airline offer a specific aircraft and they pay the type ratings”

How would you get from where you are now to a position at a mainline carrier?

What’s your favorite airport restaurant?

Got another one,

It’s the bottom of the 9, game 7 of the World Series or last series of your favorite sport, coming down to the wire…

Do you delay at the gate or are you one of the annoying pilots that constantly request updates ON GUARD!?!?

😂
