Device Memory Low

Does anyone know the reason why IF on my iPad keeps saying device memory low even tho not even half of the iPads storage has been taken up? It only seems to happen when I’m flying into airports with IFATC and more than about 3 aircraft in the area…

Hello!

It’s got nothing to do with storage. It is referring to working memory, more known as RAM.

This usually occurs when you have many background processes running and/or your device have been turned on for a while.

Ah okay. Thanks for the answer.

I don’t really have any apps open in the background apart from IF-A. Maybe it’s just an iPad from early 2018 isn’t quite good enough for IF anymore🙈

A simple restart before a flight will most likely help :) Or a soft reset, see below:

Perfect, will try that now. Thank you!

It’s new since iPadOS 13. It never happens with iOS 12 with no restart

It could happen. But yes, the frequency of it seems to have increased since iOS13. Along some other annoying performance issues.
