Device Compatibility Thread 22.3 - Built By Us For You!

Top notch Medium contenders

The devices that are powerful, for a considerably lower price, new or 2nd hand. You’ll find Honor, Huawei and Redmi devices here, due to the lower brand recognition and their lack of availability in America.

Samsung Galaxy M30 - 2019

Samsung-Galaxy-M30

Rendering Quality: High
3D Object Density: Medium
Rendering Resolution: High
Texture quality: High
Anti-Aliasing: On
Framerate: 30FPS
Airplane Count: High

Notes: Will get you through flights even overnighters. I would suggest activating developer mode in order to ensure the device stays on for a longer time than 10 min though even the screen lock feature works in ensuring the device stays on. (Not so sure about the settings for this one… k_77)

Samsung Galaxy A5 - 2017

Rendering Resolution: Medium
Texture Quality: High
Anti- Aliasing: On
Framerate: 30FPS
Airplane count: Medium

Notes: A beautiful display, the Z5 can be picked up in the 32gb variant for under £150. Is worth noting that the device does struggle around a busy airport and is cursed by its SOC (edit: flashing a modified kernel and using lineage seems to have fixed this)

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 - 2019

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 - @Othman_Asli

OS: Android 9 / MIUI 10

Hardware: Snapdragon 660, 4GB

Rendering Quality: High
3D Object Density: High
Rendering Resolution: Medium
Texture quality: High
Anti-aliasing: On

Note: A beautiful device running Nvidia Hardware, clean and updated android, plus Nvidia hardware doing the usual “getting hot” trick. Somewhat related to Lineage OS. Otherwise, perfect. My personal daily tablet. End of Life for updates.

Notes : For those looking for an Android tablet for Infinite flight, look no further. This is the most powerful tablet currently available with the Snapdragon 865+ and 6Gb or 8Gb RAM and 128 or 256Gb ROM. It never heats up, and can run at 60FPS constantly in a busy airport. Very nice LCD screen, 120Hz. Easily usable with IFassistant, ifpax etc…

Frame Rate: 30FPS
Airplane count: Medium

Notes: This is not the best device to buy if you are looking for fast, max settings performance. If you are looking for a cheap and reliable tablet and you are a person that likes to fly in and out of not busy airports, this is the appropriate device

iPads

The pinnacle of Apple and their High end devices. Great performance, mostly good screens and enough heat to fry an egg.

iPad Pro 11 - 2022

iPad Pro 11 (4th Generation) - @virginatlantic28

Hardware : Apple M2, 8GB

Rendering Quality : High
3D Object Density: High
Rendering Resolution: High
Texture quality : High
Anti-Aliasing : On
Framerate : 60FPS
Airplane count : Very High

Notes: Absolute beast of a machine. M1 is already an overkill for the iPad lineup, so the M2 is even more mind-blowing. Runs at maximum settings.
Screen is also very bright and nice. However not much of a big difference over the previous model.

iPad Pro 12.9 - 2021

iPad Pro 12.9 (5th Generation) - @Levet

3D Object Density: High
Rendering Resolution: High
Texture Quality: High
Anti-Aliasing: On
Frame Rate: 60 FPS
Airplane Count: Very High

Notes: In my opinion this is the best tablet you can get for Infinite Flight if you don’t want to spend a lot of money. The sim looks so smooth with not lag or frame drops, even on 3D airports like KLAX or EHAM.

iPad Pro 12.9 - 2020

iPad Pro 12.9 (4th Generation) - @Kamryn & @Aniket_Joglekar

OS: iPadOS 14.5.1

Rendering Quality: High
3D Object Density: High
Rendering Resolution: High
Texture Quality: High
Anti-Aliasing: On
Frame Rate: 60FPS
Airplane Count: Very High

Notes: (Blitz) Using Infinite Flight 24/7 like I did killed it’s battery within 3 weeks. The charger became extremely weak at the the point of no charge. This happened 2 times. 3rd party charger recommended.

(Aniket) Has no issues running the sim on the highest settings. Device stays cool throughout the flight. Battery life is excellent, a single charge lasting around 8hrs with low battery mode enabled

Notes: (Lucaviness) Stunning performance, screen refresh rate is slower than the iPad Pro but barely noticeable.

(Joe) The iPad Air was worth every penny upgrading it runs infinite flight very smoothly and battery lasts for a great amount of time which is a big plus as well as quicker charging times due to the lightning cable.

iPad 10.2 - 2020

iPad 10.2 (8th Generation) - @greatsharkiee & @Average_Gamer

OS: iPadOS 14.5.1
Hardware: A12 Bionic, 3GB RAM

Anti-Aliasing: On
Frame Rate: 60FPS
Airplane Count: Very High

Notes: This is the best budget friendly iPad for IF. I always use these graphics settings and it never overheats. I’ve done 15 hour flights with it plugged in with no heat issues. I’ll get almost 10 hours of use on the iPad playing IF with these settings. It as amazing.

iPad Pro 12.9 - 2018

iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd Generation) - @Chatta290

OS: iPadOS 14.5.1

Rendering Quality: High
3D Object Density: High
Rendering Resolution: High
Texture Quality: High
Anti-Aliasing: On
Frame Rate: 60FPS
Airplane Count: Very High

Notes: Fantastic device! I would like to add that I do personally have limit frame rate on just to conserve the battery life but it’s certainly not needed with this device. Don’t be mistaken in thinking this is the best device for IF though, the lesser models such as the iPad 2018 run IF equally well.

iPad Pro 11 - 2018

iPad Pro 11 (1st Generation) - @Chris_Wing

Anti-Aliasing: ON
Frame Rate: 30FPS
Airplane Count: High

**Note: The iPad Pro 9.7 Inch (2016) is a really strong iPad. It occasionally freezes, especially if you haven’t cleared up RAM. If it freezes, give it time and it will go smooth again.

Rendering Resolution: Medium
Texture quality: high
Anti-Aliasing: Off
Frame Rate: 30FPS
Airplane Count: High

Notes: Anti-Aliasing is on when taking screenshots. Can handle full phat, however it is advised not to. Battery can die pretty quickly running IF, so be sure to have it plugged in or on low brightness when running.

iPad Mini 3 (3rd Generation) - @lucas_Piedra

OS: iOS 12.5.3
Hardware: Apple A7, 1GB

Rendering Quality: Medium
3D Object Density: Medium
Rendering Resolution: Medium
Texture Quality: High
Anti-Aliasing: Off

iPad Air (2nd Generation) - @Demeter & @Delta319

OS: iOS 12.5.3
Hardware: Apple A8X, 2GB

Rendering Quality: Medium
3D Object Density: Medium
Rendering Resolution: Low
Texture quality: High
Anti-Aliasing: On
Frame Rate: 30FPS
Airplane Count: Low

Notes: Device can get hot at times and lags when more than four aircraft are present. NOT recommended for global, lag is constant, frequent, and only gets worse.
Also had multiple people comment that the device runs absolutely fine. It appears to be a mixed bag.

iPad Mini 2 - 2013

TI

iPad Mini 2 (2nd Generation) - @Ben2610

OS*: iOS 12.5.3
Hardware: Apple A7, 1GB

Rendering Quality: Low
