Every summer I come back to infinite flight and enjoy flying some of my favorite routes. Its almost that time of year, and this year, I plan on creating a desk setup including a joystick, thrust levers, a display, and possibly other controls. I have an ipad which I plan to use to run infinite flight, a roku tv I plan to connect to as a display, a macbook air and a desk. I have seen others use thrustmaster (and other model) joysticks for control, however I have not seen the use of thrust levers combined with a joystick yet. I am wondering if this is even possible with a thrustmaster or other model before I make a big purchase. I have never interfaced any external controls to infinite flight so I apologize if this is a stupid question. This is the specific model I am looking at:
Thank you and I look forward to setting this up so I can get back to flying!
Hello fellow Pilot ! I’m personally using the Thrustmaster TCA joystick alone and it’s wonderful but my best friend with whom I practically always fly (@IFCaptainNore) is using the thrustmaster T16000M with the joystick and the throttle (of course combined with MapConnect2 to connect it) so I can confirm to you that it is possible to use a separated Joystick/Throttle.
Regarding the Airbus version, when buying my new joystick (I was previously also using the T16000M) I also considered buying the pack with the throttle but I realised that this item was more focused toward MSFS user, the throttle is separated into 2 engines (a separation that does not exist in IF, but you could still assign only one of the two on MPC2 and move the 2 together to get the same result), the flaps lever has an input for each flap setting whereas in IF you only have the option to go “flap up” or “flap down”, the engine switch is not usable on IF, etc …
I personally recommend you to try the joystick on it’s own to start and if you feel that you really need a true throttle and not just the small one under the joystick then maybe look into the T16000M one, which is, I think and based on my friend feedback, more appropriated to IF.
