EI-LRC, St. Fiacre, one of Aer Lingus’ 14 A321NEOs.
With a divided East Island, Ireland escaped Britain’s experiment with colonialism and stayed independent. With Ireland’s vast colonial empire that began in the 1200s, Ireland had an immense amount of resources and men and dwarfed England, Wales and Scotland by the Renaissance.
Ireland and England occupied different niches in the Expansion Era- Ireland colonised the East Coast of North Vinland while England busied itself with the Caribbean and Venezuela (New England)

Ireland briefly went to war with the Kingdom of Greenland over Quebec in 1608. The Greenlanders were able to call on the Nunavut tribes under their rule to fight, and the Irish called their vast colonial empire to war. It is estimated that over 20,000 died in the Quebec War over 7 years, which ended in a stalemate and Quebec being partitioned between Ireland and Greenland.

This led indirectly to the Nunavut Crisis of 1638, when several Baffin Island and Western clans, led by House Amaroq, voted to secede from the Greenlandic Crown, forming the new Nuat-Konigsreich (North Kingdom) in 1651.
In 1859, Ireland suffered a smashing defeat at the hands of the Appalachian rebels, losing a huge chunk of their Vinlandic colonies. Ireland fell into economic recession as it lost its hinterland and had to adapt to a new economic paradigm.

In WW1 and WW2, Ireland sided with the Allied powers. Ireland was hit by the economic crashes that came with both wars and the 1926 Depression, but like most other Allied powers after WW2, enjoyed a speedy recovery and post-war modernisation.
Ireland in the 1960s
In 2026 Ireland’s Home Island is more developed than in our timeline, with citizens receiving government subsidies for utilities and free public services- which of course come at high taxes. In the Vinlandic provinces, citizens enjoy a similarly high standard of living although taxation and policy depends on the province and governor.
Dublin, 2026
The current Emperor of Ireland is Seamus IV, whose role is similar to that of the British King or Malaysian Sultan; in name, Ireland is an empire, but it is widely accepted that Ireland is a federal democracy, with elected governments in Ireland and her colonies running domestic affairs while the elected Parliament, appointed Cabinet and Imperial Court run the wider Empire of Ireland.

Lockheed Vega, NK-NRA of NRF Airlines (Nuatreich Fluggsellschaft), the third aircraft acquired by the Nuat-Konigsreich’s former flag carrier.
Following the costly stalemate of the Quebec War, several Baffin Island and Western clans, led by House Amaroq, voted to secede from the Greenlandic Crown, forming the new Nuat-Konigsreich (North Kingdom) in 1651.
Nuat-Konigsreich officially gained independence at the Treaty of Iqaluit in 1659 after a protracted conflict, backed by the Chipyewan Confederacy with muskets and cannons. The new state was pulled into the Central Vinlandic Sphere of Influence.
However Nuat-Konigsreich was hit hard by the 1926 Economic Crisis, exacerbated by its yawning income gulf between the average Konigsreicher and mining tycoon. Beset by Greenland’s Haaland VII eyeing the mineral-rich territory for rearmament, rising communist factions and civil unrest, in 1936 King Akhluttilu III signed the Anschluss Accords, making Nuat-Konigsreich a state of the USN.
