Departures of the G7 Summit | Munich, June 28, 2022

Hello again,

after showing the arrival photos from the G7 summit, let’s add a bit more from the weekend here

After arriving at Saturday night, Joe Biden left Munich for the NATO summit in Madrid the following Tuesday. Since the summit itself took place in the alps, the way to get back to Air Force 1 was obviously Marine 1 which arrived just a few minutes before takeoff to Spain.

Since the southern runway was completely shut down before the departure of Joe Biden, Air Force 1 eventually was the first airplane to depart for us. We were lucky that at least some sun appeared through the thin cloud layer and our position was perfect to get it rotating off Munich’s runway 08R

During the time before the next interesting departures, the clouds however got thicker and thicker so we eventually decided to change spots in order to get us some more contrast and better light. Usually, pictures from the P20 parking garage in Munich don’t work during the day, but with the sun gone it was definitely worth a try as this first shot of a JASDF 777 shows

Only a few minutes later, their second 777 departed, this time rotating perfectly to cross Munich’s Olympic Tower back in the distance during climbout

Apart from the G7 participants we also got some “normal” traffic like this Emirates A380 wearing the Year of the Fiftieth special livery. This was actually one of the last A380s we got for the time being since Emirates downgraded the Dubai route to 777s for the remainder of the summer.

Just like the Japanese and the Americans, the Canadian Polaris also left for Madrid a while later to attend the NATO summit.

The final departure of G7 related planes eventually was German chancellor Olaf Scholz onboard the German Air Force’s A340 16+02 named after the first German president Theodor Heuss

Hope you liked this second (small) batch of G7 pictures! I’ve got some spotting trips planned in the next few weeks so stay tuned for more content!
