Denver to Canyonlands; United CRJ2

On and off between 2001 and 2024, United express offered a mix of aircraft to a mix of cities from Canyonlands UT; most natoriously was flights to Denver aboard the Emb 120 brasilia and later CRJ2 operated by regional giant Skywest Airlines. In addition to oo, Great Lakes Air flew Beech 1900Ds to and from Denver on behalf of United in the early 2000s.
Nowadays, Denver is served by Contour Airlines on their E145s through the Essential Air Service program, which is a federal aviation subsidy for rural communities! I decided to satisfy my love for retro and fly the unique and often forgotten blue tulip CRJ!

Anyone who frequents Denver Airport, knows about Voodoo Donuts, myself included so I of cource had to get a maple bacon before heading to our gate on the east end of B concourse! I arrived just in time to see our 2004 built CRJ2 pull into the gate after an hour flight from Sheridan WY! Despite the flight being 95% full, we boarded very quick and were soon on our way to Utah!

On our way to runway 25, I snagged this lovely photo of an Aer Lingus A330 getting catered for its flight back to Dublin!

Banking northwest on departure over the much hated E470 highway with Stapelton in the background! This now beautiful subburb was home to Denver - Stapelton Int’l airport until DIA opened in Febuary 1995.

After a pretty quick climb, we finally turn west and reach our cruising altitude of 30,000 ft just northwest of Eagle, CO as drinks are served! I decided to chang things up for once and have a coffee which was suprisingly delicious!

Passing over Grand Junction as we start our descent.

On right-downwind for runway 3 with Mt Peale and Mt Waas just off the wingtip.

Base to final over the gorgeous Green River

Short final! Jackson’s coroner Brent Blue happened to be flying for Dog Is My Copilot when I arrived and sent me this amazing picture!

Safely parked at this very small 2 gate commercial apron!

The possibilities both old and current are amazing and have so much diversity! Personally, and I think @RedWolf and @Wonderousbuilder641 will agree, St. George tops the list!

Wonderful photos and route I’m glad I flew into both Canyonlands and Vernal on UA CRJ2 before they switched over to Contour Airlines!
