Changing it up today with a regional flight from LAX that I saw departing yesterday afternoon while sitting at the In N Out off of Sepulveda Boulevard. It’s been a while since I’ve flown a Delta Connection flight and I reckoned it was time to revisit it.
Server: Solo
Airline: Delta Connection (Operated by Skywest Airlines)
Aircraft: Embraer E175
Origin: Los Angeles International Airport, Los Angeles, California (LAX)
Destination: Tucson International Airport, Tucson, Arizona (TUS)
Flight Number: DL3524
Route: KLAX-KTUS
Seat: 8D (Delta Comfort+)
Time En Route: 1 Hour 26 Minutes
Waiting to board in a break in the near-constant rain we’ve been getting here in SoCal at Gate 28. In the background is an Air China 777-300ER taxiing out for takeoff as CA988 to Beijing.
Starting our pushback from Terminal 2. We’re in the rearmost row of the Delta Comfort+ seating, which is quite comfortable for a regional airliner, even having a USB-A port and an universal power socket between the seats, something you wouldn’t expect to find on an RJ.
Taking off for Tucson from Runway 24L. It’s starting to drizzle again at the end of the runway, so we’re glad we’re in here, where it’s nice and dry.
Once we’ve gotten through the initial low-lying rain clouds, it’s remarkably clear as we climb past Catalina Island. Still a bit bumpy, though.
Leveled off at 35,000 feet over an overcast Coachella Valley. Due to the turbulence we’re still experiencing, the seatbelt sign will remain on all the way to Tucson.
Starting our final descent over the Arizona desert west of Tucson
Late afternoon arrival on Runway 30 at TUS
Pulling into our gate. Delta Connection flies to a total of 3 destinations from Tucson, 2 year-round (Los Angeles and Salt Lake City) and 1 seasonally (Seattle).
Deplaned at Gate B2. As we head to the baggage claim, we’re getting to see an F-16C of the Arizona Air National Guard is holding short of Runway 30 prior to departing on a training sortie.
