Delta Air Lines Inflight Emergency & Diversion

Master Key to All Jail Cells in the World

Departure Airport: Hector International Airport (FAR/KFAR)
Planned Arrival Airport: Hartsfield - Jackson International Airport (ATL/KATL) DIVERTED
Actual Arrival Airport: Minneapolis - Saint Paul International Airport (MSP/KMSP)
Aircraft: Delta Air Lines B737-900ER
Flight Time: 39 minutes
Server: Expert

Departing Fargo with a full load of passengers and cargo for the ride down to Atlanta (Unfortunately no longer a real route)

Banking due East, crossing the Red River, separating Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota.

As we climbed out of Faro, passing FL250, we opted to level off as we were getting some master caution indicators. Upon further inspection, it appeared that we had a massive hydraulic leak sometime during our climb out. After communicating with Delta TechOps, we made the decision to divert to the nearby Delta hub of Minneapolis, as the issue could present a larger problem later in the flight

Banking Southeast towards the Twin Cities

As we entered the downwind leg of our approach, we discovered that neither the flaps or the spoilers were functioning, prompting us to declare an emergency

At one of the airport fire stations, the equipment is readied to be deployed to the runway, as a standard precautionary measure.

On final approach, sans flaps

Picture courtesy of a couple spotters who rushed to the airport after we squawked 7700

Slowing down entirely with reverse thrust

Out of an abundance of caution, the operations team opted to have passengers deboard just off the runway, rather than at the gate.

glad you made it to MSP safely

@Mort is there any way other than telling approach that your are diverting to declare an emergency?

Very cool! I’ve noticed one piece of realism I lack in my flights is soemthing going wrong. Never aborted takeoff, diverted only once, and never simulated passenger issues. Listening to jfk atc, at least twice an hour a plane about to takeoff needs to be resequenced in the takeoff line to get a passenger to sit down or smthn. Happened to me irl twice with people tryna go to the bathroom. I really need to step up my game lol

An option to do this will pop up when you have minimal fuel.

Thanks! My passengers and I are too.

Not that I know of. ATC wasn’t active, so not really an issue.

It’s fun to from time to time! In the real world, stuff happens. I’ve done a few aborted takeoff practices, flaps failures, “medical emergencies,” etc. I’ve done a fair amount of practice with engine failures in all stages of flight (on takeoff before V1, after V1, at cruise, on approach, even on the landing roll). It’s a great way to mix things up and challenge yourself.

I’ve done engine failure scenarios on solo lol

I’ve done most of these on Expert. A little nerve wracking at first, but I’ve never gotten a violation from trying that.

I don’t like this experiment because it’s not good for you.

It’s a harmless thing to do in the simulator.

Oh. Figured you wanted to try it oit

It is a scenario that happens in real life. Obviously, real pilots are trained to handle such situations, but simulating emergencies like these is an easy way to inject some realistic fun into Infinite Flight.

Figure you may accidentally crash

Very nice and great landing in that configuration!

I definitely need to try doing some emergencies…

This wasn’t a coincidence 😉

Yeah definitely not 😂

yeah i’m a little suspicious lol
