I’m currently flying rdu to dca trying to approach and when I turn I keep overshooting runway 19 to the left. When should I start urning?
When I do approaches like these, I like to turn for final once the GPS activates that final leg of the flight plan
That’s what I did, also I was flying the e190 just now, I landed but I keeps bouncing up again. I’m using reverse thrust and everything but I just doesn’t want to stay on the ground
What is your FPM and speed when you land?
-120 fpm speed is 130kts
For aircraft that float a lot, I thinks it’s just better to land firm don’t land too hard as that would be good for the passengers but maybe avoid flaring until your like 10ft or so above the runway
Just enough for your main gear to touchdown first
Runway 19 in game is slightly offset farther to the right than it should be in real life.
You can see this in the satellite imagery on the ground, the in-game runway is placed slightly to the right of where the real one would be
I was just saying because i don’t know how to initiate the turn, thanks for the help
No problem, I used to face this issue too until I realized that the runway was incorrectly placed
(Banking right before the Arlington memorial bridge, as opposed to right over it should fix overshooting your turn)
Way too early. 14th St. bridge is the marker for the turn.
I live in the dc area and I still don’t know which is which haha
I just checked maps, you’re totally right, don’t know why I thought it was closer to the airport
You can use the landing aid to help, or use IRL markers
Whenever I approach at DCA, I usually disable my HDG right before the runway waypoint and manually turn with just enough time
Thats what im doing, but I always bank too little or too early/late for some reason
Use landing aid to train yourself - align yourself with those as so.
Landing aid doesn’t work for DCA’s runway 19 approach, it assumes it’s a straight-in approach
I know, I’m saying as you are on base, you can see the short final via landing aid, thus helping the turn.
