The 6X has a maximum range of 5,500 nm (10,186 km) and a maximum operating speed of Mach .90. It’s also capable of flying Mach .85 for nonstop flights up to 5,100 nm (9,445 km). SUPERIOR MISSION FLEXIBILITY


The 6X, like all Falcons, can access more airports than competitors, including steep-approach fields like Lugano or London City. Even after a short hop, it can land at 85% of its Maximum TakeOff Weight and can still fly almost 9 hours to an overseas destination without refueling.

SAFETY AT EVERY SPEED


Like all Falcons, the 6X wing is optimized for both high-and low-speed performance. In fact, the Falcon 6X’s typical approach speed is up to 10knots slower than most jets with comparable range. The 6X also introduces a new flaperon control surface, borrowed from its military sibling, the Rafale, which greatly increases takeoff and landing control, and therefore safety, especially on steep approaches.

I noticed this jet seems unpopular compared to the 7X and 8X. And its a rarity here in the US.

That’s because the 6X hasn’t been around as long as the 7X and 8X. The 7X entered service in 2007 and the 8X in 2016. The 6X entered service in 2023

I have also read that Dassault built last year fewer Falcons than the Rafael fighter jets. Of which they did build 26.

The 8X is an older concept in general. Even Dassault themselves do think so. You can see that because they do have the replacement, the New 10X, in development. The first prototype of the 10X just had its rollout a couple of days ago.

The 10X is much bigger than the 8X. The 10X is built to compete with the Global 7500/8000 and G700/800. The 8X was an improved version of the 7X while the 6X is meant to compliment the other 2 since it doesn’t have as much range

I still don’t think they will not keep building the 8X no matter if it actually gets replaced by the 10X or what could be possible too. There will be a more direct replacement by Twin Jet which does sit in between the 10X and 6X.

I mean the trijet is an outdated concept. Even Dassault does think so as well. If they wouldn’t do so, Dassault would have never built the 6X and 10X as a Twin Jet.

I doubt the 8X is getting replaced anytime soon. That jet entered service in 2016. Still has plenty of life left.

In comparison with the 6X and 10X, it sits right in between:

Taken that into consideration, the 8X is just an updated 7X. The 7X did enter service in 2007, which does mean that the development did most likely start in the late 90s or early 2000s. So it’s already ~25 years + X old design and definitely a candidate for a replacement, just like the smaller Falcons below the 6X, which did replace the 7X.

So maybe the 8X will be replaced by an updated 6X, for example, or they will use the 10X as the replacement, even though there is a size and performance gap.

My point still stands. The 8X is still fairly new and isn’t in desperate need of a replacement.

The Gulfstream G650 is in production since 2012, but nevertheless, Gulfstream just got the successor (G800) certified and delivered the first aircraft to the customer in 2025.

So the argument that it’s fairly new is a valid argument, but yet it’s nothing you can rely on. Therefore, it’s definitely possible that Dassault will replace the 8X in a not to distanz future. Especially if they want to keep competing with the other large business jet manufacturers, of which they hold the smallest market share of about 15%.

The Trijet designe is financially inferior the Twinjets. Even in terms of performance they are not notisably superior to the Twinjets.

Afterall they are Business Jets ment for business in one way or another and not just luxury toys.

The Falcon 6X would make a Great addition for the IF Fleet above the Challenger 350 and still leaves room for an Ultra Long Range Jet Like the Global 7500/8000 or even in a more distant future the Falcon 10X.
