CYYZ Heavies and the Return of the Super

On Sunday August 16, Emirates returned to operating the EK241/EK242 DXB-YYZ service to the Airbus A380. They had been using their Boeing B777-300ER’s for the last couple of months. Other notable arrivals of the day were Etihad, China Eastern and Lufthansa.

First Up Emirates and the A380, I never realized how much I missed seeing the A380 until it was gone.

Most photos are also getting the Egypt Air Boeing 777 in the background as it overnights at Toronto.

Very nice pictures!

One thing just: In some photos it would be nice if the watermark was more visible, i.e on a white background? What do you think?

Really nice pictures! Some very rare aircraft like the LH Star Alliance A340 as well. Thanks for sharing and great to see the A380 back in the skies more and more.

I always try and make the water mark not be overpowering but still visible to try and prevent others posting them.

I know, we need that livery just for WSVG

You posting that code share route is why I decided to make this post.

It truly was, only the 2nd airline to operate the A343 that I have photographed.

Thanks, truly surprised that LH is retiring the 744 but keeping the 343 and 346’s.

Etihad is the reason I drove down, it is a stunning livery.

Thanks

Nice shots! Definitely gotta spot at Toronto one day…

It is a nice airport to spot at, especially RWY 23 golden hour arrivals.

It truly is a beautiful aircraft.

The reason for that is the seat capacity as far as I am aware. The B747-400 is just to big currently for the very low market demand. With demand not rising that well, especially on long-haul flights there is no need for a big, expensive to operate and inefficient quad-jet like the B747.

Same also happened with the A340-600, which doesn’t seem to come back anytime soon.

Great photos!

The only thing I would change would be the brightness or exposure, the photos are a bit dark at the moment.
