Current largest jetliners

With the A380 being scrapped so shortly into its lifetime and the new 777X, which I believe is the latest and largest commercial plane currently, do you all think that the production of the 4 engine jetliners is completely in the history books? I do enjoy flying the larger planes on the game, but landing them is an other story without the ILS feature on the planes.

I think this belongs in real world aviation

I think airbus could make an A380 2.0 with new and efficient engines, just like Boeing did with their 777.

Boeing and Airbus both retrofitted their 707 and DC-8’s multiple times before production of the types were cut. And the 747 continues to serve as a cargo hauler. Unfortunately, the A380 was too big and too late, and the 747 could potentially be retired by cargo airlines in 15-20 years.

So unless both Airbus and Boeing make drastic changes to their A340, 747, and A380, I could see the quad-jet era ending soon with the advent of all of these twin-engine widebodies. Retrofitting the engines and making changes on the DC-8 and 707 helped extend their lives well beyond what they would’ve been otherwise, so it is possible that quad-jets could stick around only if changes are made.

Airbus did this to themselves. They should’ve abandoned the program when the first problem developed. Look where it got them. Unprofitability.

Due to the current situation, no one will buy quadjets and they will use more efficent twinjets like the A350,787,777x/777-300ER.

No

In most cases, yes, but you have exceptions such as the massive cargo haulers such as the AN-124 and AN-225, both which would require at least 4 engines.
