Hello,
I just was about to land at LFPG after the 17 hour overnighter from Tahiti, when my phone just froze and then exited the app immediately. This was about 10 miles out. Will the flight save in my hours? How do I prevent this next time?

The XP should be saved from my experience
Your XP and hours are saved periodically as you fly. Fortunately.
As for the crash, did you approach a busy airport?
Try restarting your device, or maybe your device can’t handle such a flight. But your XP will always save.
Your XP and stuff are saved - so you haven’t lost that…
@Mags885 there was about 3 aircraft at the airport.
Ok, what device are you using?
My iPhone 6s, and I restarted it before the flight.
Ok, your device is unfortunately aging when you compare it to the requirements of the modern IF version. 17 hours is a long old flight for a phone, I dont even do that on my ipad!
One way you could combat it is by clearing your scenery cache prior to decent to free up some space and capacity within your device. That should put you in the best position prior to descending and refresh your phone.
I dont recommend committing to such lengths of flight on a mobile phone though, from personal experience.
Thanks @Mags885! I really do appreciate it. I literally started crying when I didn’t land.
I hear you and understand your frustration. Sorry I cant give you a more helpful answer but unfortunately thems the rules.
@Mags885 do you think I should let it rest for a while before attempting another flight?
Soft reset your phone to clear your RAM, make sure it’s cool and not warm to touch and you should be good to go.
To do a soft reset, press the power & home button together until it reboots.
I have just encountered the same problem after flying for 5 hours… I was about to land in OTHH when i was on final and preparing for landing, the app crashed and lost connection… I didn’t want to open a new subject because it’s gonna be a duplicate but that’s extremely annoying…
My device: iPad Air 3rd Generation…
I have a great wifi speed up to 238 mbps…
It’s the first time I encountered such a crash…
I did 18 hours on a 6s before upgrading to an XR last August. All graphics to low as well as IF low power mode and screen brightness to low until final approach seemed to help.
This is most likely caused by the bug introduced in 19.4. Hopefully it will be fixed with 20.1 soon. You absolutely can do 17+ hour flights on an iPhone 6s. You’ll just have to wait for the devs to fix the bug first.
Happened to me on final to OJAI this morning.
Okay, so this seems like a wider spread problem.
Approximately i do flights every day, some of them are long but never exceed 8 hours… Just recently encountered the issue for the very first time during my whole experience in this simulator for 3 years… The feeling is extremely bad especially when you take time preparing the flight plan and checking charts and flying then; well; on final everything ends in such a tragic way
Yeah it’s probably just a bug, hopefully will be fixed in 20.1
