For several years, Copa Airlines has ranked consistently among the most punctual airlines in Latin America. Copa Airlines has overhauled their operations to improve their performance in servicing airplanes before they depart, efficiency in handling luggage and passenger experience. Back in 2002 it was the first time I traveled abroad, to Florida. This was also the first time I flew with Copa Airlines. I had very little interest on aviation before, but it all change in 2008 when my dad got a job at Copa, thanks to him I got to know the airline, as I had the opportunity to visit their headquarters several times and some of their offices and installations at Tocumen Airport.
Their history and success records impressed me very much to the point I always refer to them as a role model for perseverance and self-improvement. I’d then travel with Copa on my next trips to the US until 2015 when I did my last travel with them, eventually my dad resigned from Copa the next year, now working at DHL.
In 2021 I promoted and campaigned for the Copa Airlines livery in the 737-800 to be updated. It wasn’t until February 2022 when it finally happened. I started the same thing with the livery for the B737 MAX 8. Despite the disappointment of many that it wasn’t added in the MAX 8 update, the momentum and support for it is greater than for the 737-800, which at its peak gathered 62 votes. This shows the support for livery diversity and the appreciation for the airline, which is one of the leading airlines in the region.

Have you tried one of Copa’s long 737 flights? There are several options to try, I personally have done all of them, including the airline’s longest flight: MVD-PTY. Most of these flights depart during the afternoon at arrive at night, but if you’re looking for new routes that aren’t that popular, then flying Copa Airlines’ long routes could be your best choice!

I did PTY-LAX and it wasn’t that bad since it was a daytime flight
The return flight is another story
Departed 12am LA time and I couldn’t sleep the entire flight 😭
I was in a trip with my dad over in Asia and I was jet lagged too😭

Copa Club (previously Presidents Club) is Copa Airlines’ lounge exclusively for passengers traveling in business class, ConnectMiles program members, Star Alliance Gold Status holders and those who fly with airlines that have codeshare agreements with Copa Airlines.
Like any airline lounge, passengers that have access to Copa Club can enjoy several amenities like food, snacks, free Wi-Fi, soft drinks and other beverages and entertainment while they wait for their flight.
Due the pandemic, some of Copa’s exclusive lounges are closed or have reduced capacity and with some restrictions, to comply with the safety guidelines made by health authorities to prevent COVID-19 infections.

Memories of the Old Copa Airlines Livery
What’s cool of doing night flights is that you get to see the sunset while cruising at +30,000 feet, and the clouds? Oh the clouds make the scenery more enjoyable. This screenshot was taken while flying from Panama to Rio de Janeiro as CM873. This is one of Copa’s most busiest routes to Brazil, and one of my favorite routes for the Copa 737 livery! The screenshot below was taken while flying at 36,000 feet over the Amazon Rainforest near the city of Manaus. 22 May 2021.

Copa Airlines remains committed to the Boeing 737 MAX. Despite delays in deliveries, Copa Airlines expects to expand their fleet between 2025 and 2026 with 19 new MAX jets. The airline will add a new 737-800BCF as well. Copa Airlines has postponed the retirement of 2 Boeing 737-700s, and had to temporarily cancel 4 destinations: Tulum (TQO), Mexico City (NLU), Santiago de los Caballeros (STI) and Armenia (AXM), due to the delays on new 737 MAX deliveries.
Copa Airlines closed 2024 with 103 airplanes: 9 x Boeing 737-700, 58 x Boeing 737-800, 1 x Boeing 737-800BCF, 32 x Boeing 737 MAX 9, 3 x Boeing 737 MAX 8.
