Copa Airlines’ Destinations in the Americas Tour: United States [Part I]
“Land of the Free, home of the Brave.” We arrive at the last country of this tour. The United States entered in Copa Airlines’ network in 1980, the same year when the airline received their first jet airplane: a Boeing 737-100. They started with flights to Miami, today the airline flies to 16 destinations in the United States, in my view their largest market. Copa Airlines is well connected with the USA, offering passengers a variety of options for tourism and business.
The United States is today a diverse nation in many aspects: culture, traditions, people, food, nature, and the list goes on. Not only is one of the most visited countries in the world, but it is also one of the most influential and powerful nations on the global stage. Politics aside, the USA has also influenced cultures around the world, in sports for example: baseball and basketball. Many international students (myself included), have found education opportunities in the USA, as well as people seeking better jobs in some of the most important multinational companies.
Atlanta was founded in 1837 as the end of the construction of the Western & Atlantic Railroad. The city’s name is derived from “Atlantic”, signifying its role as a transportation hub. Atlanta played a crucial role in the American Civil War. In 1864, it was captured by Union forces under General William T. Sherman during his “March to the Sea.” Atlanta was a central hub for the Civil Rights Movement. Leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Ralph Abernathy organized and fought for racial equality from the city. Atlanta has experienced significant growth in recent decades, becoming a major hub for business, technology, and culture in the Southeast.
Atlanta is a melting pot of cultures, with a vibrant arts scene, diverse culinary offerings, and a thriving music scene. The city retains its Southern charm with its hospitality, historic architecture, and a passion for college football.
