Rich in culture and history, Argentina is known for having a notable number of people with Italian ancestry (about 60% of the population), consumption of meat (especially the asado) and for having some of the most popular names in sports like Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona, and in literature such as Jorge Luis Borges and Esteban Echeverría. Not to mention that the country, also has some of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in the world.
Founded in 1536, Buenos Aires is a melting pot of European and South American cultures. It served as the capital of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata, and its strategic location on the Río de la Plata made it a hub for trade and commerce.
Known for its passionate tango, vibrant arts scene, and lively nightlife, Buenos Aires is an cultural center in the region. It’s home to museums, theaters, and galleries, and its diverse neighborhoods offer a glimpse into different aspects of Argentine life. The city still preserves up to this day, several buildings that date back to the colonial era, making it a UNESCO heritage site. It’s the birthplace of Lionel Messi and Ángel Di Maria, both well-known soccer players, and also of Ernesto ‘‘Che’’ Guevara, a Marxist revolutionary leader. It’s also a stopover for avid hikers and mountaineers eager to explore the Andes mountain range and most importantly the Aconcagua, the tallest mountain the southern and western hemispheres.
