Copa Airlines’ Destinations in the Americas Tour: Paraguay
We arrive at Paraguay’s capital city: Asunción. Located on the eastern bank of Paraguay River, it’s one of the oldest cities in South America and it’s known as “Mother of the Cities,” because several colonial expeditions departed from Asunción, including the second foundation of Buenos Aires, Villarrica, Santa Fe and Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Today, the city is the main economic, cultural and touristic center of Paraguay.
Asunción is known for its lively cultural scene, with a variety of festivals, music, and dance throughout the year. The city is also home to several museums and art galleries that showcase the country’s rich history and artistic heritage. Paraguayan cuisine is influenced by indigenous Guarani traditions and Spanish colonial influences, with dishes like chipa (cheese bread), sopa paraguaya (cornbread), and asado (grilled meat) being popular favorites.
Copa Airline flies to Silvio Pettirossi International Airport for their flights to Asunción.
Some main attractions in this city are:
- Paseo de la Galería
- Museo del Barro
- Casa de la Independencia
- Cerro Lambare
- Jardín Botánico y Zoológico.
