Copa Airlines Boeing 737-800 (Revised Livery with Split Scimitar Winglets)

During the creation of the “Hub of the Americas” in the 1990s, Copa Airlines landed in Mexico when they inaugurated the Panama City-Mexico City route. Today, Copa Airlines operates in 5 cities in Mexico:

  • Cancún
  • Guadalajara
  • Mexico City
  • Monterrey
  • Puerto Vallarta

Despite their efforts to increase their presence in the Mexican market, Copa Airlines had to withdraw some routes as they were not meeting their expectations and thus loosing valuable money:

  • Puebla
  • Villahermosa

Throughout their history, Copa Airlines created alliances with two Mexican airlines: Mexicana de Aviación and Aeromexico. Mexicana also had flights to Panama until their closure in 2010, Aeromexico later started flying to Panama but the route is currently suspended due to the pandemic, and so far they haven’t returned. Copa Airlines has been the only carrier connecting Panama with Mexico most of the time.
