I play IF online almost every day. I live between two different parents houses. With one of the houses, the overall performance is poor but with IF there are rarely/never any connection issues. With the other house, it’s the complete opposite. The wifi performs well, but with IF i have constant server connection issues, not just with busy airports but all the time, everywhere. These server problems affect every single flight without fail, and prevent me from attending events etc. This has been happening for a while and i am starting to get extremely annoyed with it now.
I’m asking here to see if there is any settings that i can configure either in game or with my wifi that can improve the performance? Or even if there are any tech savvy people who can at least tell me what causes these issues constantly?
It might be routing issues or something with your wifi internally. Try using private dns on your phone settings and set to 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com as the hostname or dns.google and see if it might work. All Isp tends to use their own dns which might not give you the best routing so using cloudfare or google dns can mostly solve it and also eliminate minor ping issues.
I have the same problem with wifi sometimes. It won’t really connect to the server and the planes disappear/warp into the ground/turn unknown. I then activate airplane mode for 10 seconds and then turn it off again and normally I should have a great connection for a long time after that
When i have tried this, it has worked temporarily but after a few hours the same issue still persists. Which makes me think it’s just a general WIFI performance issue with Sky.
Domain name system or DNS is used for routing and connecting you to a server and to communicate with your device. It handles all the technical stuff outside of your ip address.
Here’s a simplified answer
“In gaming, DNS stands for Domain Name System and it translates website names (like “bestgamesite.com”) into numerical IP addresses (like “192.168.1.1”) that computers use to connect to the internet. A fast and reliable DNS can improve your gaming experience by reducing latency and ensuring a more stable connection.”
If you play on your iPad and you have a phone, try switching between your hotspot and your main WiFi router, and keep the device away from flashing lights, as that could cause the server to disconnect, (happened to me 2 days ago), or try installing the latest update, and be sure to have all other apps closed when in the sim. Hope this helps
