Confused Question

Am I correct, aren’t pilots suppose to stop at the hold short line? I’m doing G&T at KLGA in this storm and have pilots entering the runway then asking for Clearance for take off…

It’s TS. You’re going to get unruly pilots, unfortunately.

And yes, they’re supposed to stop at the hold short.

Yes they are supposed to.

Yes it was TS but they were grade 4

So? Grade is irrespective to flying ability.

You are supposed to stop with your nose wheel about 20 feet from the hold short line. When exiting the runway, same with the tail.

If those pilots don’t care, let them go, they will learn on the expert, you always hold short of the runway before asking takeoff clearance

Grade is not equivalent to discipline. Every grade always has some bad apples. I’m sorry about your experience.

No part of the aircraft should be protruding beyond the hold short line.

Yes, that’s what I’m saying.

Very valid point I forgot about that

I watched a Grade 4 takeoff from the taxiway so yeah. Anyone can rack up XP and landings.

Just take a look at JFK…
You cant see anything and people just taxi on the grass just to find a runway 🙄

I’ve seen you ask a few ATC questions in the past and it seems like you have an interest in it. Have you contacted a recruiter about joining IFATC? You should look into it!

I think I need more landings and a bit more practice before taking my exams

Well we look forward to you joining.

Yes they are, unless they were lining up then requesting takeoff clearance.

If I tell my pilot I’ll call your base they shouldn’t be turning base until I tell him to turn base correct or no

I told the pilot to enter left downwind Runway 2 2 L left at Newark Liberty International then I told them I will call your base they should be entering left of the runway then making a turn when I tell them to yes or no

Yes, that’s correct. As you’ll hold them and extend their downwind until you instruct them to turn base. Pilots shouldn’t turn to left/right base position if they haven’t got the “Turn Base” instruction (Only if you have issued “I’ll call your base” prior to it. Unless you give them “Extend Downwind”)
