Condor retires last B757s

Hello everyone,

Today will be a sad day because the very last condor 757 flight will happen.

A bit of background:
Condor is the first german leisure airline and was founded in 1956 in former west germany. When the 757-200 made its debut on the 19th February 1982 with a 2 hour test flight the “pencil” was officially born. Production ended on 28th October 2004 after 1050 units, with the last going to Shanghai Airlines. The 757-300 was introduced in 1998 with a 7 meter longer fuselage and up to 60 more seats. Condor was the first airline to buy these, and got 31 757-300s out of a total 55 ever built.

There was also a condor 757-300 with a special livery, registration “D-ABON” and nicknamed “Willi”. Willi was already retired on the 30th October.
Another special livery was the 757-200 “Rizzi bird” that was painted on the airlines 40th anniversary in 1996.
Condor was the last airline in Europe still operating passenger 757s.
As I’m writing DE757 is currently flying the last ever condor 757 flight back to Frankfurt from Vienna .
Condor stated that all of its pencils will be ferried to St. Athan, Wales which is home to one of the largest aircraft dismantling services in Europe. The fate of all pencils is still unknown.

Thanks for reading and goodbye! May the 757 live long.

Also Delta don’t use the RB211s, they use the Pratt and Whitney ones. I think United do use the RB211s though.

It’s sad to see the end of European usage of the B757.

The a321neo is who to blame.

Retiring the 757 has to be an international crime against humanity
