How to read a Profile

Knowing how to read a Profile is crucial to fast and easy operations. There are essentially an endless amount of Climb profiles for the MD-11, but to keep it simple I have only added the 7 most common.

TYPE:

TYPE1: Standard procedures
TYPE2: Stepclimb substitute

CLASS:

First number: Cruise mach
First letter: Type to the transition
Second number: Load
Second letter: Profile type
Third number: Throttle target

Key:

β†’ C: Maintain knots to mach transition, transition mach is cruise mach.
β†’ P: Raise Mach after the transition to cruise mach, according to the Profile.
β†’ SU: Climb profile for Special Ultralong Hauls
β†’ U: Climb profile for Ultralong Hauls
β†’ L: Climb profile for Long Hauls
β†’ M: Climb profile for Medium Hauls
β†’ S: Climb profile is for Short Hauls

Example:

β€œTYPE1, CLASS 85C-64M-70”
Can you figure out what this climb profile is?

Standard climb procedure, cruise is 0.85 at the transition, load is 64%, climb profile is for Medium Hauls, and throttle to be 70% for climb.

Apparently there is a edit cap, even in Dms…Complete BS.
So progress is set back for a day, Unfortunately.

Made some great progress while it lasted

Whoa this is news to me, how many edits have you done? I’ve never had this happen even when editing topics that hit the character limit.

I’m not sure but maybe like 50-100 or something like that.
I’ve been editing a whole slew of DM posts, its not just one. I’m not sure if that would have anything to do with it or not?

Just copy and paste it into a note and wait the 5hrs.

I can’t because the BBcode and HTML get distorted. So I would have to just redo it anyways. But thanks for the idea.

Back to work, I can edit again!

Standard climb procedure, cruise is 0.85 at the transition, load is 64%, Climb Profile is for Medium Hauls, and throttle to be 70% for climb.

Here is a sneek peak at all the planed climb profiles for the Guide, there are about 9 others but i’m not sure if I will add them or not. I have deliberately hidden all but one complete profile.

I updated the Profile Key, if you want to figure out these profiles
It would be fun to know what you guys think they will be:)

GAME PLAN

I haven’t really developed a proper plan or list of things todo. So I finally decided to make something proper:
You can refer to this in the future. It will be added to the Progress tab in the topic header.
