Coming into land using APPR, throttle goes mad

Hi

Last night I came into land at Gatwick with a Airbus A319-100, set everything correct and the speed was set to 141 knotts, then all of a sudden the throttle went mental up down really quick, and then starting to pitch the nose down and up and down and up!

This has happened to me a few time, surely it can’t be too slow?

Does it come down to weight= speed for landing?

Usually seizing throttle means speed maintaining. It can be seen during turbulence too. The throttle may be the reason of the phugoid, but I can’t be sure about that much. All I can be sure about is the speed maintaining.

This happens a lot in gusty wind conditions.

Okay thanks

So it’s normal for the throttle to move like mad automatically in gusty weather?

In Infinite Flight, yes. In real life, no. Infinite Flight’s a little more sensitive with it’s autopilot inputs.

That’s the understatement of the year; Infinite Flight AP needs therapy because that thing is crazy. 😂
