Showing mostly Utah, but in general, between Colorado and Utah, which is most photogenic?
From the high desert of Canyonlands to Mountainous Telluride. Some photo passes near the departure before heading to the mountains. Casual, noon.

It depends. Colorado has the Rockies and some beautiful mountainous approaches, such as Eagle County, Aspen Pitkin County, and Telluride. Utah, on the other hand, is dominated by mountains, plateaus, and basins. SLC does have a gorgeous departure over the Great Salt Lake. Ultimately, it depends on what youâre looking for. If you want alpine scenery and high-altitude airports, Colorado is the way to go. But if you want a mix of mountains, plateaus, and desert, Utah has got it on lock.
Good points. Which is easier to get a satisfying screenshot from? It might be interesting to do a side-by-side comparison of screenshots from several photogenic locations around the world, to see which might offer the most varied good shots with reasonable effort. Though of course itâs hard to judge it objectively.
I assumed Colorado is not as easy to get a lot of easy good shots from compared to these locations in Utah. But tbh, I havenât tried yet to test that assumption for Colorado.
If youâre looking for good screenshots, I recommend sticking to scenic areas, such as snow-capped mountains or an arrival into SLCâfor example, turning right base for Runway 16R at SLC over the Great Salt Lake.
In terms of Colorado, when youâre dealing with the mountains, you wanna have something dynamic. Thatâs why I like to find mountains that are snow-covered because they yield something a little different than a green tree line.
Yeah, SLC is stunning. I havenât been there for a while. I think Iâll go back and maybe compare SLC with some of the âbestâ of Colorado.
Of course, Jackson Hole ainât bad either:)
Itâs the very very best đ
I personally like blue water scenery and mountains the best, so I choose Switzerland!
All jokes aside, I like Colorado better
I can never get enough of the ocean coastal areas, and the Rockies high country, but the Colorado Plateau is pretty unique, thinking of places like Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, and Arches, especially for those coming from areas without such desert features. Itâs hard to imagine a time without aircraft allowing us to get around to all these places
