My short time here in the Galápagos Islands has come to an end as today I make my way back to Ecuador’s 🇪🇨 mainland more specifically Guayaquil. We aren’t actually too far from the mainland, about 600 miles or something so that would be an 1 and 1/2 hour flight unlike Easter Island, Chile 🇨🇱🗿 which is about 2,000 MILES off the coast and takes about 5 hours to get to from Santiago the equivalent of transcon in the US 🇺🇸 and yes if I ever find myself in Chile, that’s where I’m going on the trip! But enough rambling let’s make out way to the Galápagos Ecological Airport to get this flight started!
Flight Info
Origin: Seymour Galapagos Ecological Airport 🇪🇨 ( SEGS )
Destination: José Joaquín de Olmedo Intl 🇪🇨 ( SEGU )
Flight Time: 1:37
Airbus A319-100 ( LATAM )
Server: Expert
As a Colombian 🇨🇴 this Airport really had that San Andrés vibe there about the same distance from the mainland and both airports boarding process involved AIRSTAIRS so we were outside right in front of the plane, hope all av geeks get to experience this type of boarding process!
Same seat as last time just on the other side of the plane so I could get the view of the island and Guayaquil same thing as the other one, a little tight but it’s okay and gets the job done!
We blasted away from this very small but lovely airport I just get bored of big hubs and regularly fly into small airports with the exception of MIA of course which is my favorite airport for those who don’t know.
Goodbye Galapagos 👋 one more South American islands to check off Easter Island, IM COMING! one day though.
We departed from GPS towards the east making our way across the Pacific Ocean towards the coast of Ecuador before making our way into Guayaquil, we’d cruise at FL370 and the cabin crew did the same snack service from the GYE → GPS flight which was GREAT for this short flight anyways, there wasn’t much to look at before about 10 minutes before landing so I just went on my phone and played Flappy Bird. By the way 3 star service ⭐️⭐️⭐️
LAND AHEAD! There is the magnificent pacific coast of South American shared by Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and Peru! 🇵🇪 anyways about 10 minutes remained inflight so it was time to reflect, like an average domestic flight it was a decent experience I like flying to these small island part of these countries because it feels like I’m traveling INTERNATIONALLY even though I’m not but still a fun experience and these airports can be really fun to arrive and departure into or out of!
There is Guayaquil once again! And this time I sat on the RIGHT SIDE so I got to see most of the city while on approach into GYE’s RWY 21
It’s probably my favorite city in Ecuador but unfortunately, it’s one of the more dangerous ones but still love it as I love Cali and it’s one of the most dangerous in Colombia as well.
TOUCHDOWN! Welcome back to Guayaquil! Where I’ll stay until NEXT Monday exploring more of what this marvelous city has to offer before I have to head back home to the USA and then decide what to do next, probably just one last trip to end the summer nothing insane though.
Just like pretty much every airport in the world, a spotter has to be somewhere nearby 📸
We arrived back into GYE’s incredibly built José Joaquín de Olmedo airport and just like the GYE → GPS flight, I went through customs 🛃 once again as we are back on the mainland not as painfully long as passport control thankfully this time I DID rent a car since I would need it and made my way to the SAME hotel and got the SAME ROOM as well, anyways off I go to explore the city and surrounding areas as much as I can in this one week before catching another American Airlines 737-800 back to the 305 but as always, between now and the next time see you in the sky! 😉👋
