I don’t know how codeshares work and what are their uses.
Can someone please explain it to me?

Codeshares are a way to expand a VAs route network by offering flights by different airlines, but under the VA callsign. Some virtual airlines may operate it differently, so it’s best to check with your VA leadership.

In my virtual airline, I do numerous codeshares, it’s a way to expand a virtual airline like @Kyle said, but its another way for members of the virtual airline to be able to expand flying various different aircraft and overall give them the opportunity to do interesting routes instead of the designated ones given.
