Cockpit + HUD view

Does anybody else manually adjust their Cockpit POV when using the HUD to mirror that of just the HUD, I think it’s to fit the instruments better in the view but I find it off putting when the small circular icon that shows the aircraft movement doesn’t align with the vertical lines of the HUD correctly. Apologies if this makes absolutely no sense

Sorry I don’t understand a word but would like to help

If the aircraft has a live cockpit IF expects you to use just the live cockpit. You can manually align the HUD to the horizon. The circle (with small lines off of it) is the Flight Path vector, which shows where your aircraft is headed.

I think I get what you’re saying. In some aircraft when you’re in cokpit view and toggle the HUD, the horizon line does not represent the horizon in the default view, so your sight picture with reference between the FPV and the artificial horizon is completely off. I would use the HUD since it can be hard to see the PFD at times but I never use it due to this

Well done you for understanding my point!

I always find myself alternating between captain and first officer view for takeoff/ landing- aligning the horizon line, and taxi using the other view. I can’t see the instruments anyway so find this annoying as I prefer to use the flight deck view when flying.

I also don’t understand a word, but would be happy to help.

Yeah, unfortunately, there isn’t a way to choose where the camera aligns to that I know of.

I mostly use the HUD map in the cockpit view for when I’m taxiing at larger airports.

lol. I know.

But there is actually a logic to it:

The FPV always shows the actual external world direction of travel, independent of your view direction.

But the attitude indicator “floats” with your view direction, and is always judged relative to the artificial horizon reference line that must float along with your view direction.

So, no matter which direction you’re viewing, you have accurate attitude feedback with no need for external reference, and if you cross-reference that “look-anywhere” attitude info with the FPV relative to the external world, you get very useful VS and direction of travel info.

In other words, you can fly with precision while looking out at different view angles.

If only there was an option for no HUD but has FPV, sadly any aircraft or in aviation doesn’t

Still not the same

Very useful to know where you are going lol

Sorry, what do you mean not the same? Perhaps I misunderstood?
