Join Plane & Pilot next weekend as we attempt to build the longest aerial refueling chain ever! A KC-10 refeuling a KC-10 refueling a KC-10, etc. We will take off at KEDW, build the chain, and then land at KDMA, an Air Force Base in Arizona. If you enjoy formations and aerial refueling, you can’t miss this event. Everyone Grade 3-5 is welcome! Just post below and we will add you to the list.

Pre-Takeoff:

Use assigned callsign with flight of #.

Set your fuel to about 350,000 Ibs/154, 000 kgs.

Taxi to runway 17 in numerical order of callsigns.

Everyone line up on the runway in numerical order of callsigns, maintaining separation of about five aircraft lengths.

Don’t takeoff until the leader (@jakevaz423) announces takeoff on unicom.

Avoid running over the person in front of you during takeoff.
Flight:

Turn on NAV mode soon after you take off

Climb to your assigned altitude at 3000VS at 245kts

After you reach your assigned altitude, speed up to 320kts and make small adjustments to your speed and altitude to get in refeuling postition behind the person in front of you. Don’t turn off NAV even if you are perfectly lined up with the person in front of you.

After you get in refeuling postition, lock your position and don’t move so that the person behind you can get in refueling position.

Don’t break formation until instructed to on the event PM.

Make sure to fly in a professional manner since we are on the Expert server
Decent and Landing:

Remove flight of # from callsign

Try to speed up and create space between you and the person behind you if the people in front of you do the same.

Land on runway 30 at KDMA one at a time and taxi to parking.
