[Closed] Military Pattern Work @ EGUL - 221600ZMAY16

Server: ATC Playground

Region: London

Airport: EGUL Raf Lakenheath

Day: Sunday, May 22nd

Time: 1600Z

Aircraft Type: A-10, F-14, F-16, F-18, or F-22

NOTAM: This event is targeted towards pilots interested in realistic fighter ops. If you have ever been near a military air base, you know how much fun it can be to watch the jets point their nose skywards and break around to their downwind. Here is a chance to try it yourself with other pilots in the pattern with you.

You only need about 3 or 4 people for a full pattern, so feel free to try this if you have a group.

Caution: Tight patterns in high performance aircraft can be very difficult. Practice is highly recommended.

Are we using a military overhead pattern or a standard pattern?

Good question, I’ve had no success with overhead pattern entries in prior events. They always turn into the standard IF 20nm straight in approach. My guess is that overhead patterns confuse people who have never been around fighters… I am open to both types of pattern, and would love to see others flying realistic overheads!

Side note: The proximity of Lakenheath and Mildenhall make it a nice place to practice overhead entries at real world bases.
