Excellent controlling overall! Just a few mistakes that you might improve on:

  • You gave me taxi instructions before I said I was ready. Don’t do that, wait until the aircraft requests to taxi.

  • After you tell me which direction to do my patterns in (hence “Cleared for takeoff, make left traffic”), you don’t need to tell me again as you did when you cleared me for the option (hence "After the option, make left traffic). Since you told me once, it’s a given and I don’t need to be reminded unless you need to change the direction.

  • You told me to enter straight in 04R when I requested a runway change on left downwind. You should have just given me left Downwind.

  • When I announced I was on final, full stop, you cleared me to land. This is not needed, as you had already cleared me for the option and I was just letting you know what I was planning.

Thanks for taking your time to come to my session.i didn’t know about the 2nd and 4th point you made,So that was really helpful.
I will be opening and closing a couple of times a day for the next week to get some good practice for my practical…so come when ever you are free!

Just a question…do all inbound aircraft’s need a pattern entry unless on ILS and GPS?

Pretty sure they always have to into the pattern, then turn base then final. I’m not really sure though. Maybe someone can double check me on this?
